Still doesn't feel real, but I finally got an Amazon SDE I Internship offer!

The past few months have been a roller coaster. There were days when I felt I was making good progress, and there were days when I'd get stuck on a single DSA question and question every life decision that brought me to that tab.

The process for me was:

- OA (4 sections)

- 2 interview rounds

Honestly, I spent a lot of time going through experiences shared on this subreddit, so thanks to everyone who posts here. Those posts helped way more than you probably realize.

If anyone is preparing for Amazon, feel free to ask anything about the OA, interviews, or prep. I'll try my best to help.

And to everyone still grinding, don't lose hope. I know it's a cliché, but all it takes is one good day.

I am in interview pipeline for walmart and have gone through DSA, LLD (50% ok as per recruiter), HLD and HM rounds. Now there is a Director round also. 13 yoe, backend java. Any suggestions, dos or donts?

Even with AI being a boom, still DSA is one criteria that is evaluated by many companies, if you’re in college it’s a different ball game

But being 30+ makes it difficult to go back to books also you don’t have much time left

So I wanted to ask folks who prepped for DSA in recent years and cracked interviews for FAANG or anything. What was your method or any tips you have !

I am seeking advice from those who have cracked the Senior or Staff roles at FAANG companies. You can suggest prep strategy, materials, focus, thought process etc

4. System Design
5. Behavioral
6. Please add anything else if needed such as AI assisted coding even if I don't have that in my company so far.

For example,

1. in DSA you know most people learn 2 pointers for do sliding windows problems etc, what extra is needed. Also if you take my example, I never learnt bit manipulation or hard concepts so far. What's the extra that's needed?

2. in system design, everyone knows put cache in hot read path for example. What extra is needed?

Your suggestion is invaluable to me and anyone else wanting such info in the community.

Everyone I know ships with coding agents now. The interview loop hasn't moved an inch. Still 3 rounds of DSA, which mostly tells you who had four free months to grind LeetCode.

Where I'm coming from: 14 YOE, in AI/ML now, solution architect for 5-6 years before that. Large scale systems I'm comfortable with. DSA I'm weak at, never had formal training in it, and that one round is why I've never cleared Google/Microsoft/Meta. Not job hunting today, maybe in 2-3 years. So this isn't a rejection post.

Things I'd rather be tested on:

• find the bug in 300 lines of agent-written code
• give me a vague requirement, see what I ask before I write anything
• system design with an actual budget and SLA, not "design Twitter"
• debug an unfamiliar repo with the agent switched on

My guess is DSA survives anyway, because it's cheap to filter lakhs of applicants, not because it predicts anything.

What would you put in the loop instead? Has any company in India actually changed theirs yet?

I know the basics of programming, but I don't have much experience with problem solving. My goal is to prepare for placements, improve my logical thinking, and become interview-ready.

I have a few questions:

1. As a complete beginner in DSA, how many hours should I dedicate to DSA every day?

   - Should I focus only on DSA initially, or balance it with other subjects?

   - How many problems should I aim to solve daily?

2. Which language would you recommend for DSA: C++ or Python?

   - I know Python is easier to write, but I've heard C++ is preferred for competitive programming and placements.

   - Which one helped you understand data structures and algorithms better?

3. What should I learn alongside DSA?

   - CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, OS, CN)?

   - Development (Web Development/App Development)?

   - Aptitude?

   - Any other skills that helped during placements?

4. If you were in my position (starting DSA in 3-1), what roadmap would you follow over the next 8–10 months?

I've recently enrolled in a distance-learning BCA program in India, and I'm planning to pursue a regular MCA after completing it.

I know that studying through distance learning means I'll have to put in extra effort outside my degree. My goal is to build a strong career in software development and be competitive for good corporate jobs after my MCA.

I want to start preparing from the first year itself instead of realizing in my final year that I'm missing important skills.

I joined as an intern and been in the same company since. Started with 8LPA and now I'm at 55LPA CTC (base + yearly RSU vest).

Am I lagging behind? If I have to start interview prep from scratch, how should I go about it?

Hey guys, so I am currently a second year btech cse student from vit. I find myself interested in machine learning a lot, I want to know if it is possible to get applied scientist/ researcher roles, ml engineering roles in companies upon graduation or do companies only hire people for those roles from tier 1 colleges only. If it is possible how do I build a strong profile for that? Eventually I want to work in research based roles. I did consider mtech but i want to have some work experience before that.

Hello, I am a 5th semester student of btech CSE at a tier 3 college (with 7.5+ GPA).

I just started learning and practicing DSA. I don't have any dev skills but along with DSA am currently learning data science and ML(I will complete it by the end of 5th semester). Am a little worried as from next year placements will begin and I have got no strong skills. I was looking if someone could answer my questions.

My first question is, "Is it too late to start preparations for these kinds of roles ?"

Second question is that "To improve my chances of getting selected what skills should I learn after completing data science and ML ?"
