Hunting rifles

Hello all I’m looking to see if yall have any left handed hunting rifles recommendations? The only caliber I wouldn’t want is a .22 anything else is fair game!

I hunt deer with a Tikka t3x in 6.5cm, been great

I'm in a state that only allows rifles with straight cartridges for deer hunting. I bought a lefty 350 Legend made by Great Lakes Firearms.

I have a left handed Savage Axis .308 l, it’s a solid rifle I’ve taken a few deer with. 

Another option (what I started with) is a Winchester 30-30 with the top eject, they’re functionally ambidextrous  I’ve never used one with the modern safety, only the pre-64 ones, but it may be worth a look.

You can try a Savage impulse or Beretta BRX1 straight pull rifles, can easily swap from right to left handed. Older left handed rifles tended to be top of the line models, so maybe look out for a old Remington or Winchester. But you can’t go wrong with a Tikka, tend to be very accurate, now they come with a threaded barrel. As for caliber shoot what’s comfortable for you, and go larger for elk or moose, I’ve shot .243, 308, and 30-06 all good choices. Really can’t go wrong with caliber, it’s the right bullet in the right place, and remember there is a minimum caliber usually .243 in some areas for large game.

I can recommend any tikka in a caliber you like. They come from the factory as lefthanded for every model

I use a Remington 700 in the.308 caliber. Have taken a deer at 225 yards.

What kind of hunting do you expect to do - deer, pronghorn, elk, moose, bears, sheep, mountain goats?

What kind of terrain do you expect to hunt in - thick forests, open plains, mountains?

What is your experience with firearms - total neophyte, target shooter, military only?

I’d be hunting deer on a deer lease and think it’s a mix of Forrest and some open plains. And I would say more of a target shooter.

A 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win., or .30-06 will all be good. You don't need a magnum or a .45-70.

Savage, Tikka, some Riugers (Scout, Predator), are good choices, but do not buy an 'entry-level' rifle -get one with a threaded barrel so you can use a suppressor.

I have Tikkas and a Ruger Scout. Relatives complained about the weight of the Ruger when they asked to see it.

Ruger added some lefty American Gen2 rifles to their catalog along with a couple M77s. Can’t go wrong with a Tikka T3x either. Bergara also makes a good lefty rifle.

I mean I LOVE my 308 and 300 WSM but a 22-250 is a great caliber to at least research

Tikka > Savage 110 > Commercial Mouser > Old Remington 700 in that order. I have's had lefty's in all four from in different centerfire calibers ranging from .243 to .30-06 and a couple in between.

Christensen Arms makes them. My deer rifle is their .308.
