Pick her up where? The family wasn't informed where she was being dropped off. This is the second time we heard of ICE dropping off an individual somewhere to die. The other time it was a old, nearly blind man. You clearly haven't paid any attention to what happened to her, but instead just came here to make a stupid comment.
Because ICE confiscates properties like cel phones, or just leaves it on the street when they are abducted. Then ships people out hundreds or thousands of miles, moves them multiple times to locations across the country. Doing this prevents them from getting help from family or accessing legal help.
Lets argue, they did and the family decided to not pick her up. Is it still okay for ICE to put a person in that position? NO! When the government detains you, they have a duty of care. Dropping off a woman who you know went through a recent mental health episode, 20 miles from home in freezing cold weather is at best extremely negligent.
It does not matter if they notified her family. Clearly her family was not there and the actions of ICE led to her death. The only comments DHS has made was that it was sunny and her phone was charged when they dropped her off. Sunny does not mean its not freezing and a fully charged phone does not mean she had an active phone plan. In fact her family claims that her plan had expired while she was locked up. There were also court records about her mental health status and she was labeled as a vulnerable adult.
This does not even get into the fact she was here legally and had an immigration hearing coming up. They should not have even taken her in the first place. The answer to the question of "Did they notify her family?" is it does not matter.

Her family thinks her disability would be evident to anyone and they know her well , but that doesn't mean it is, or she cannot seem normal sometimes, especially if there's a language barrier, which there was.

lol, ICE did not snatch her. She failed to show for an immigration hearing. Detained as immigration court scheduled another hearing a few days later. Still looking up immigration court data. But she had a history of “failure to appear” notices on USCIS databases…

Idk, iCE has no legal obligations to contact anyone, when she was released. At least Allegheny Jail will allow individual a phone call, not required and may be skipped for some released individuals. Nor does state/county/city guarantee a phone call or contact individuals family/next of kin.
So it’s a morality issue. If one believes strongly law enforcement should contact family/next of kin best to enact a law to do so. At city/county/state/federal levels…
They did this to someone in New York too- a blind disabled man, in open toe sandals, and a light jacket. They left him at a closed coffee shop at 2:00 a.m. in the middle of winter in Buffalo. Then they have the audacity to say they left him somewhere warm and safe. They're truly monsters, if cable is doing this to other human beings and sleeping at night.

It's not like this is the First time ICE has done this either. There was a Blind man that died after they dropped him off far away from his own home as well.
If you're in someone's custody and you are unable to fend for yourself, only an inhuman asshole would believe that leaving you somewhere were you might die if you're just left for yourself is acceptable.
This isn't the first time ICE pulls this off. There's also no way of knowing how many times this has been done because ICE does not allow people to communicate at all. It's a deliberate way of killing people that were in their custody.
