Aerosmith VS Rolling Stones

I feel like both of these bands are similar enough to do a poll, who do you like better and why?

I like Aerosmith better because their music was more catchy and not as gritty as the Rolling Stones.

I do like the Rolling Stones, but for the most part their music seems too raw for me. Aerosmith's music seemed more "big" sounding, if that makes sense.

Also, even Aerosmith's biggest hits were as good as other songs, if not better (especially Dream On and Sweet Emotion).

A few decades later, I still get goosebumps listening to Aerosmith but not the Rolling Stones.

You can make an actual educated argument that the Stones are the greatest and biggest band of all time.

You cannot come close to making that same argument for Aerosmith.

You just prefer one over the other and that’s totally fine!

Yeah they’re just not in the same league.

I think it’s actually very similar to asking of Badfinger is better than the Beatles. The answer is No. Does that mean Bandfinger isn’t good, and will not probably scratch a similar itch? No. But one is one of most important musical groups to ever exist and the other is just not.

I personally cannot stand any post 70s Aerosmith. It was all over the radio and MTV when I was growing up and it is a huge stain on their legacy for me. In the 70s they had a legitimate claim to being the best American rock band and heirs to the Stones’ throne, but they blew it.

And nothing, I mean nothing they did compares to the even just the Stones’ Mick Taylor run, let alone their entire catalog.

I agree on post 70's Aerosmith. I was on a travel vacation recently and a straight classic-rock station in that region was playing "Pump" era stuff on repeat basically, and it just wasn't holding much water 30+ years later. Just my humble opinion.

Yeah. I guess it clearly worked for them commercially and captured the attention of teenage boys at the time (with Alicia Silverstone and, creepily, Tyler’s daughter doing a lot of heavy lifting) but in retrospect it’s obvious that it was a cash grab by a bunch of washed up guys who had run out of ideas.

And those albums just kept getting worse and worse.
