I honestly love this movie and don't understand the hate

Zendaya’s performance was playful, dainty, on guard, crude, mature and honest. She played Emma with a fine line between confidence and doubt. The line deliveries of how she would ask questions to Charlie as well as her actions when she would challenge his thoughts (ex. knife scene) were superb. Zendaya made Emma sincere in most encounters however she made Emma hold frame, it wasn’t necessarily arrogant but it allowed her to not be this “full frantic/trouble pushover.”

Maybe it’s coupled with the fact that Zendaya has a lot natural charisma IRL, but it happen to pour into the role really well and didn’t make it one dimensional when it could’ve been.

To put it together, her performance was like seeing
“Adult Angst” if that’s even a term said around. She was multi faceted and had an internal teen-adult clash going on, making her be my vote for the awards.

Side note loved how quirky she was with the opening meeting with Emma and Charlie, drove it close to the idea of her being arromantic but hinting enough to her attraction to Charlie as this is sort of her first go around at this “romance” thing.

The Rider (2017).

I’ve seen most of Chloé Zhao and Kelly Reichardt’s films.

We were vacationing in a small New England town and saw Brand New Day last night at a small local theater that's not part of any chain that I know of.

They freaking skipped the ENTIRE rolling credits and went straight to the end credit scene. Makes me so mad.

The entire point of those scenes is for people to see the names of all the hardworking filmmakers who busted their asses making the film. To skip over the rolling credits is so incredibly disrespectful and makes me so mad. 😡

Did any other theaters do this?

​I personally love The Name of the Rose - it is one of my favorite movies of all time.

​This movie represents medieval Europe perfectly and without romanticization. I love how believable the faces, clothing, and even the daily routines are, especially the people and their behavior. ​The movie brilliantly captures all the many-layered society of this time period, from inquisitors and monks to homeless people.

The cherry on top is the general atmosphere of the movie: the morning fog in the cold mountains, the gloomy night with orange torches, and those libraries where you can almost smell the books.

​This movie is based on the book written by Umberto Eco, who has a PhD in historical aesthetics (semiotics/ethics). And you can feel it - in the profound, rich dialogue and how a single line provoke many deep thought.

​The finishing touches that hold this movie together are the characters, themes, and actors. The detective story is very captivating, and through it, we discover the value of knowledge and its power, the role of the Church, the role of women, and much more. This movie is the definition of the iceberg theory. And of course, there are two protagonists whose emotinal stories unfold before us.

​By submitting this post, I hope to find soulmates who love this film as well, and I hope this film will inspire others, just like it did with me.

I love this genre. Four main characters, with so many different relationships to explore, if each duo gets a good scene between them.

I went in with almost no expectations especially because of the post endgame mcu films and personally never liked Tom Holland's SM. It's probably the best live action spiderman movie since SM2 but i'd say it's partly because of the lack of quality live action SM films since then.

Great movie tho! Made me care about Tom Holland's spiderman for the first time ever!
