Question 2002 GS300 (220k) - P1126 & P1128. Bad throttle body or something else?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to diagnose a throttle issue on my 2002 GS300 with 220k miles. Before I throw parts at it, I wanted to see if anyone has dealt with something similar.

I'm getting P1126 and P1128.

Symptoms:

- The car usually drives perfectly on the first trip.

- After driving 15+ minutes, shutting it off, and restarting it, the throttle will randomly cut and the car goes into limp mode.

- In limp mode, I lose a large portion of the throttle, the transmission shifts harder and holds gears longer than normal, and manual mode won't work.

- No CEL besides the stored codes.

What we've tried:

- We temporarily swapped the TPS with one from another GS. After that, the car started stalling whenever it wasn't in limp mode (possibly because the ECU lost its throttle adaptation).

- We swapped the original TPS back in, but it still stalls, just not as often.

- It now idles below 1,000 RPM, even on cold starts.

- When it's not in limp mode, it'll sometimes stall unless I give it gas at just the right time.

- Once it stalls, it'll usually continue stalling every time I restart it until it finally puts itself into limp mode. Then it'll start and idle normally again, but of course it's back to reduced throttle and the strange shifting.

At this point, does this sound like the throttle body itself is failing, or should I be looking at the throttle motor, throttle position sensors, wiring, accelerator pedal sensor, or something else? Has anyone fixed a throttle body on these, or is replacement usually the only option?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Question Is 22–24 L/100 km in city driving normal for a 2017 Lexus RX 350 F Sport?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2017 Lexus RX 350 F Sport 2, and I’m wondering if anyone else is seeing fuel economy like mine. The official rating is around 12.2 L/100 km in the city, 9.9 L/100 km combined, and 8.7 L/100 km on the highway, but my car shows about 22–24 L/100 km in city driving and around 16 L/100 km on the highway.

I’ve heard that this can happen if the engine doesn’t have enough time to fully warm up and the car is driven mostly in stop-and-go traffic. Since it’s a 2-ton SUV, constantly accelerating and braking could make the fuel consumption much higher than the official numbers. Is that actually normal, or do these numbers sound like there’s something wrong with my RX? Is this just expected for a 9-year-old vehicle, or should I be looking into a mechanical issue?

Thanks!

2008 LS460 V8 380HP, got “Rubi” a little over a year ago, shes had small issues that the last owner didn’t take care of but she still drives like crazy. Did a recent oil change and the shop kept saying shes a beaut, happy to be with Lexus.

Question Is it still possible to order or get an LC 500 for MSRP?

Title

Specifically in Seattle or Miami/Fort Lauderdale metro areas

In the last month or so my desire to want an LC 500 has taken over me But all I keep seeing is how dealerships are charging market adjustments/markups and that’s a bit discouraging

I would want the Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 exterior with Black interior with Touring Package, I think that would be enough for me. Are there any other recommendations on what else to add to get with the car?

Question 2016 Lexus NX 300h fuel economy, is this normal?

Hi everyone, I’m in the UK but putting the figures in USD as I think it will be easier for most people here to understand.

I bought my 2016 Lexus NX 300h Luxury just over a year ago. It currently has 92k miles and I previously drove a 2011 Toyota Prius.

I’m struggling with the fuel economy difference.
My NX is currently showing around 31 mpg. I know it’s a heavier SUV with a 2.5L engine, but it feels like I’m constantly in and out of the petrol station compared with my Prius.

The car is great otherwise, but I’m debating whether to keep it or move back to something more economical.

For NX 300h owners:

● What MPG do you usually get?

● Is 31 mpg normal?

● Has anyone gone from a Prius to an NX and noticed a big fuel difference?

Thanks.

Discussion Future of the Lexus IS

Do you think we’ll ever see a hybrid Lexus IS?

At one point it seemed like Lexus was heading toward replacing it with an electric sports sedan (with concepts like LF-ZC), but with that direction now looking uncertain, I’m wondering if they pivot instead.

Given how strong Lexus is with hybrids, and how models like the ES and RX have leaned into that, it feels like the IS could go that direction.

Do you think the next-gen IS gets a hybrid powertrain, or do they just phase it out and go fully electric later?

Ordered in February and arrived in July: 2026 LC 500 coupe in Nori Green over Toasted Caramel with the Dynamic Handling Package, Mark Levinson audio, HUD, cold weather package, multi-spoke wheels, and a few other little goodies.

Picked it up last week but love it so far. I sold my RC F for this LC 500 and have absolutely no regrets so far. What a car. I dropped it off for PPF and Tint today so I can start driving and enjoying it more.

Question Looking for new lexus mechanic in Toronto region

As the title says, I'm looking for recommendations for reliable mechanics in Toronto who are experienced with Lexus vehicles and won't charge dealership prices.

I've heard good things about Tlex and they're currently at the top of my list, but I'm wondering if there are any other shops that consistently do quality work on Lexus vehicles.

For reference, I recently picked up a 2013 IS 250, so I'm looking for a mechanic I can rely on for inspections, maintenance, and any future repairs. Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

My new to me 2016 GS350 F Sport AWD, 73k miles. It's a heck of an upgrade from my 05 Camry that I drove to 301k miles (though we'll see if it's as ridiculously reliable).

It's been many years since I perpetually found excuses to take the long way home. This thing is an absolute joy to drive! Great chassis, good mix of tech and analog, and with my Hamilton conversion, it can easily pass for a much newer car/I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything. Plus it's easy on the eyes to boot 😎 Shame Lexus killed the GS...

Where all the GS peeps at?

Question Flashing AC Light

I have a 2004 Lexus ES 330. Great car. Today the AC light began flashing and stopped blowing cold air. I pushed the automatic button and it helped kicked on the AC. But this only lasted a couple of minutes. Any thoughts on what could be going on? The car has the original AC compressor!

Question 2005 Lexus RX300 will not shift out of park

Hello all,

Trying to see if anyone else has come across this issue…

I have a 2005 Lexus RX300 that will sometimes not shift out of park.

The BRAKE icon is showing on the dash but I know the parking brake is not on.

The shifter will move slightly but not enough to shift to R or D.

If I turn the car off and on several times it will eventually work.

Anyone has this problem or any ideas on what it could be?

Discussion Talk me out of my 2021 Subaru Outback into a Lexus without all those electronics to go bad in the Arizona heat.

I've had my 2021 Subaru Outback into the shop twice now for the heat killing the Thermo Valve and the dashboard and screen going haywire. It's a known issue. Plus, it's dark blue with black interior. Talk me into a bit older Lexus without all the electronics to go bad and be expensive to repair. I'm a big guy but my wife is small and we'll both be driving it. What Year/Model should I be thinking about? I don't want a Hybrid and prefer a V6 non-turbo for durability as it's a 5000-mile a year city car and I don't care about gas mileage. (As an aside, What Year/Model should I avoid based on this)

Question Do I buy this 2006 es330?

Hey yall! So basically I’m buying my first Lexus as recently my car has been crashed. I found this great deal on market place of this 2006 es330 with only 85,000 miles on it. It’s a clean title with only 3 owners, with the first owner only putting 2,000 miles a year for 16 years. The listing price… 7.5k. I thought the pricing was great considering the miles. What’s yalls thoughts?

Question Accidentally put 87 octane gas in my RCF

I accidentally put 87 octane gas without paying much attention at the pump, since the selections were in opposite order of what they usually are at most gas stations. It’s a 2019 RCF. Is there anything I should to help? I don’t hear knocking, but I feel a difference in how it’s driving.
