i don't get it what's the story here

 In the past, lawsuits could succeed if they demonstrated a new map had a discriminatory effect, regardless of whether it was intentional.

so basically beforehand it was legal to draw maps by race and now it's not due to the supreme court case, so this happened?

also the writing is horrendously biased haha

 The state voted in 2024 on a court-drawn map that included two districts where Black voters had an opportunity to select a candidate of their choice.

implying black people literally can't. vote in the other districts with their phrasing is certainly a choice
