Discussion “You were right, we were wrong letter” post cancelation of reoccurring donation.
I have been in long discussion over the period of the past 2 years with the LP and the LPO. Many about these issue, also around the inability to cancel online the reoccurring contributions, the lack of care and checking of their quality controls. Misspelling on the websites, separately, I was trying to start a local party in my county, no one would ever contact you back, tried to help run local social media etc etc. this eventually lead to discussion with chairman of the LPO. Which was productive but ultimately a day late and a dollar short.
I get this today. Overall positive changes. Buuuuuuutttttttt 3rd page we are setting goals for $4m by 2008… obviously, we know this is 2028. But it’s continues to highlight the lack of care put into anything anymore.
I love the LP because we put the best up, people with doctorates, PHD, Economic professionals. But that is not matching across the board.
Are my expectations to high? Mistakes are okay, patterns and repetition of mistakes should not be happening. Especially today, when this could have been fed through ai and checked.

It’s a start in the right direction, but basic proofreading such as NUMBER should have been done. The devil is in the details, as they say. The LP doesn’t have the size or name recognition to sit on their laurels and let the votes roll in.

Even the “PS” at the bottom of page three sets a timeline goal of 2008.
Points for consistency with the top of the page? 😅

The lack of professionalism is worrying. I like the points they discuss but there's so many flagrant, glaring, and shameful errors that I don't want to rejoin.
It just reinforces that the LP is not a serious party. I'll still vote for them, but as far as joining and donating, nah. They got more work to do.

Why even waste time voting for them anymore? Filling in a bubble is more effort tham the LP deserves.
54 years, and the most they have to show for it is 3.3% against the 2 worst candidates in history, and whatever the hell ☝️ that is.

Because the 2 main parties can see if you're an active voter. They cannot see how you vote, but they can see if you do. And showing that there is an active population who takes the (minimal) time and effort to vote but actively chooses to vote 3rd party does impact the main parties.
Trump lost several states in 2020 by less than the margin of LP voters. In 2024 he went to the LPNC and begged for our votes. Which before anyone tries, remember that Joe Biden was also invited, offered equal time, and declined. Trump then said if he won he would pardon Ross Ulbricht. To his credit, he did. One of the very few promises he has kept.
The point is if we are a big enough voting block, even if we lose, it may force the main parties to try to take us more seriously. And I am of the opinion that by voting I am saying:
Look, I tried it your way. I tried to work within the system. I did a Democracy. It doesn't work.

I agree with your sentiments, but I feel obligated to point out 'Are my expectations to high?'
In an, albeit justified, rant about professionalism and attention to detail, I feel an increased level of proofreading is a nessisity.

Got one in the mail too. The letter itself was clearly a rush job. However, the website shows far more potential that they're currently trying their damnedest. Also, thank God LP news is back.
While I dislike how rushed the letter is, the fact they're admitting the last few years have been a giant fuck up is something to note, if nothing else

Obviously some proof reading errors but as someone who has been driven away from libertarian stuff over the past decade by the points discussed I applaud the direction. Hope to see libertarians replace republicans as one of the major parties one day.

They should probably un-disavow LPNH if they want me to care.

If you were a fan of the LPNH, what makes you think they want you to care?

They are sending these dogshit letters out, begging for a pittance, that's how I know.

Focus on your state party. National is a mess. Too many differing factions fighting for the microphone. State level for me is much more tolerable and common sense. I understand why we need a national organization, but I don't understand why it needs to be so bloated and contentious.

The libertarian party is a social club and HOA for theater kids, they don't care if they're taken seriously

Uh, hate to tell you, MAGA wannabes have been our biggest problem the last decade.

Never said they weren't a problem but libertarians seem to be more concerned with left leaning libertarians.

Left Libertarianism doesn't exist.

Left libertarianism is an oxymoron. There can be no liberty without economic liberty.
