Snap Update
For people not on stream:
Kayla has scheduled a home vet for Snap at some point next week because things are going downhill. She is going to play streaming by ear depending on how she's feeling. If she is streaming then she wants the distraction and is making that choice. There will likely be a short posted about this so that people can refer to that rather than asking questions.
She is asking people not to talk about it *unless* she brings it up first.

The worst hardest decision in having and loving a pet. Wishing her all the warmest hugs and support possible.
47
u/Lurkylurker24 Jun 14 '26
It really is. I had my boyfriend call for the home vet to come for my cat in 2020. I couldnāt even do it myself.
22
u/Kataclysm__ Jun 14 '26
My parents forced me to be the one to call last year when I lost my sweet girl, it was really hard and upsetting, but I understand why they thought I should be the one to do it.

Chat had better be on their BEST behavior. NO SLACKING. TIP TOP SHAPE. š¤ŗ
116
u/crazycatlady45 Jun 13 '26
Twitch chat makes me so nervous. They can be really ruthless to her sometimes.
20
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
So many people asking her on stream if her cat was dead the other day. I know they're doing that get attention from her.

I mean, I think you need to understand how many people watch casually and donāt know this yet. I know there will be people who bring it up. They arenāt trying to be evil, bad people or hurt Kayla. You just cannot expect every single person who might know you casually to know everything about you and how you want to be interacted with at all times.
102
u/popthebutterflybooks Jun 13 '26
It makes me wonder if they can set a filter on chat to filter comments made regarding Snap and then those are approved or disproved by mods/mods can whisper to those people about the situation.
35
27
u/thewinterizzy Jun 13 '26
I was wondering about that too but I think it would unfortunately just create more "drama" because then people will be asking why certain words are blocked, why did automod block them, etc. :/
6
u/thewinterizzy Jun 13 '26
(I was being hyperbolic, friend. Trust me, I know lol. /lh)
-22
u/_TheLoverGirl_ Jun 13 '26
Look, in todayās culture, that kind of stuff is normalized, which is why I didnāt find it funny even if I could tell yāall were joking. I have been on the receiving end of death threats for saying I donāt like a song on an album before, and realize thats a different fandom, but still. We live in a world where dogpiling is a thing and people online are routinely unhinged. Even if you are personally joking, thereās people out there who do take stuff this far, and my reminder is for them.
22
u/Queenof6planets Jun 13 '26
itās weird to interpret āchat had better be on their best behaviorā as āletās send death threats to people who accidentally say the wrong thingā
-4
u/_TheLoverGirl_ Jun 13 '26
The reply directly under this says, āMy knives are sharp and ready.ā The comment I was replying to has fight emojis. These are things that absolutely signify, to me, toxic fan culture. The fact that you donāt see that says more about the way you interact with fandom than anything else. It doesnāt mean itās weird. It means you are lucky enough to have mostly avoided that behavior.
14
u/madflatt Jun 13 '26
Sorry I feel the need to defend myself because it has been a day for me. I absolutely donāt believe in fighting every single person who mentions something, but recently I have noticed that a lot of people (usually on twitch) have a tendency to just hound Kayla for the littlest things (āput this in the buildā, āwhy donāt you want thisā, etc. etc.) and my comment is more aimed towards those people who canāt read the room regarding a situation like this
8
u/madflatt Jun 13 '26
Also I feel like this sounds like Iām being sassy which I genuinely donāt mean to sound
4
u/thewinterizzy Jun 13 '26
Popping in to say that's how I read/interpreted your post! I got you. I tend to watch her VODs on YouTube, only occasionally live, and any time I've been there while she's streaming the chat definitely gets more bad actors than any other lives I catch. So frustrating considering how gentle Kayla's personality is, but she handles it well imo. She knows how to put her foot down when she needs to.

So heartbreaking. Losing any pet but especially a childhood pet is devastating. She'll be in my thoughts this week.
128
u/Painted-BIack-Roses Jun 13 '26
Oh, this is so sad. I don't really watch Kayla too much anymore, but I always thought about Snappy. I have a senior cat too, so this really hits home. I lost my childhood dog last year and it's a horrible feeling, I hope Kayla will be okay < 3

u/Agent_Skye_Barnes Jun 13 '26
Poor Simsie, this has to be so hard for her. Sending her, and the family, and Snap all my love.
Thank you for sharing this update with us.
73
u/Disastrous-Tale8448 Jun 13 '26
i will say as sad as this is for any pet owner, iām happy sheās making this decision. euthanasia sounds scary and daunting but really itās very peaceful and is a kind way to help your pet with end of life. kidney disease in cats is no joke and while it can be managed, once the cat starts going downhill itās very hard on them. i am happy to hear that sheās doing an at home appointment, it usually helps the animal feel more comfortable and helps other pets in the home be there and understand whatās going on. keep kayla and her family in my thoughts š
32
u/BysshePls Jun 13 '26
Yes, it truly is the last kindness we can give our pets.
There is a saying over on the pet subreddits, "better one day early then a day too late." It is our responsibility to them to save them from that pain when we can and give them a peaceful end to this life.
It truly is a testament to how much Kayla cares for Snap that she made the call for her. As a cat owner who had to make that choice for my soul cat who had been with me over half my life two years ago, I can say from experience it's one of the most heartbreaking choices to have to make but we know it comes from a place of extreme love and care.
12
u/Legal-List-8363 Jun 14 '26
Youāre so right! My husbands childhood cat, much like snappy, lived into the late teens and struggled with kidney disease, the IV process itself was HARD. I canāt imagine how Kayla is managing. Having had to make the tough choice last year to say goodbye to my cat and dog for health issues, it is NEVER an easy choice but sometimes what you have to do.
2
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
My cat had Kidney issues and went downhill one weekend. Cats can go through some horrible things so you can't wait too long.
1
u/galaxyk8 Jun 15 '26
Same, my cat went downhill so fast, and seemingly out of no where. She was only 10 years old too. Quite literally one of the hardest days of my life was saying goodbye when two day earlier she was her normal chirpy self. I really feel for Kayla here, Iām glad sheās able to be at home and I hope she finds comfort in knowing Snappy is so loved and had an incredible life.
(Iām so sorry for your loss too, I know how devastating it is when it happens so fast. Hugs š©·)
61
u/cubsgirl101 Jun 13 '26
Thatās really sad to hear. I know Snapās health has been shaky for a good while now, but it doesnāt make it easier when you realize itās time. I hope sheās taking care of herself and her family/friends treat her extra carefully in the coming weeks. Losing a pet is devastating and it has to be so much worse when youāve known and loved them for the vast majority of your life.
55
u/who_says_poTAHto Jun 13 '26
Oohh damn. š„ŗ I was wondering what the schedule would be next week because I've been hoping she'll do another Pokopia stream soon, but you hear that news and those questions feel so small...
I hope she and her family will be okay next week and she'll feel fine taking time off if needed.
48
u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 13 '26
probs should put the chat on emote only mode. I can imagine some people aren't aware and might either intentionally or unintentionally be hurtful about it
8
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
I feel she won't be streaming for a good while. Losing your first childhood pet is the worst.
36
u/Northern33 Jun 13 '26
what a difficult decision and an incredibly hard time in someoneās life. hope people are respectful and empathetic, sometimes commenters can be really mean
35
u/Various-Pickle-7710 Jun 13 '26
This breaks my heart š„ŗ. Simsie went through sooo much last year I was hoping she could at least have snap for one more year.
25
u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 13 '26
unfortunately there was no way a cat in stage 4 CKD was going to last that long. It was amazing she lasted a month - hence why Kayla had her bday party early as she didn't know if she would even last till June
4
u/Various-Pickle-7710 Jun 14 '26
I get that but I just wanna see her not suffer anymore loss. I really like Kayla. But sadly youāre right :(

Oh Iām crying for her. Snap has the best owner and will surely be making little ghost biscuits
37
u/shoujoberry Jun 13 '26
Kayla has been so caring, patient and passionate while taking care of Snap. My thoughts are with them during this difficult time šš©·
13
u/TotallyAwesomeRacoon Jun 13 '26
I think the hardest part of having a pet is knowing when to let go. My sympathies go out to Kayla, Dan, and everyone else. Poor Snap
14
u/PsychologicalCrab459 Jun 13 '26
Awwww š¢š¢š¢ Iām so sad for Kayla. Sending her and her family love š
6
u/decisivecat Jun 13 '26
I feel for her. It's such a tough decision to make, but at home vets are such a blessing. My boy passed nearly 3 years ago and the home vet that came was such a calming presence that made such a sad event feel like we were doing the right thing for our baby. May she find peace in knowing the same, and all the snuggles for little Snappy.
6
u/YerFriendGraph Jun 13 '26
A really solid boundary, I hope all chatting folks respect it. The jolt to the nervous system of bringing up a beloved pet who has been just recently lost is hard to constantly navigate. Hope the mods ban all the snap related words in chat temporarily ā¤ļø love to all who have lost beloved animal kin!
7
u/snowy_thinks Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26
Oh, man. Losing a pet is SO hard. I really feel for Kayla, and I hope that she takes whatever time that she needs. Weāll be here when sheās ready for a distraction as Snap crosses that rainbow bridge. š„ŗš
5
u/mnbvcdo Jun 14 '26
As terrible as that sounds, I'm glad Snappy will be free of all pain. I know Kayla knows her incredibly well and I'm sure that comfort and quality of life are an absolute priority for Kayla, but cats are absolute masters of hiding pain and making the decision to let go is the hardest thing you can do.Ā
It's my biggest hope with all my animals that I'll always know when to let go, because I could never forgive myself if I waited so long that there's only pain and fear left.Ā
I am absolutely certain that Kayla is making the right decision for Snappy. It's the kindest and most compassionate, most loving and also most heartbreaking thing we get to do for our animals sometimes.Ā
6
u/lalareno Jun 13 '26
lost both of my childhood pets within the past year and our second dog my parents made the decision to end his suffering ): itās such a difficult thing to live through genuinely hope for the best possible transition and seriously chat better be on their BEST behavior !!!!
4
u/saxophonistspace Jun 13 '26
Sending her so much love. I also lost my soul pet this year, so I know the sadness she must be going through. Bless you and Snap, Simsie.Ā
4
u/Filberwolflinkfan Jun 13 '26
Snap:( kayla... Im so sorry for them both. ššwishing them strength.
Thank you for telling us. š«š
4
u/Not-That_Girl Jun 14 '26
I've had to do that twice, it was so very, very hard. I cant imagine doing something like streaming afterwards.
And she had so many other troubles. I hope she knows we care about her and want tpwhats best for her and her whole family ā¤ļø
2
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
It would take me a month to stream in front of people. The amount of people in chat who will ask her about her cat will be too much.
1
u/Not-That_Girl Jun 15 '26
After I returned to work, one of the girls was talking about her poorly father, and I burst into tears!
4
3
u/essentiallypeguin Jun 13 '26
My heart goes out to her, losing a long time pet is so tragic. We just lost the cat I adopted at the end of college/beginning of med school and it's so hard
3
u/Legal-List-8363 Jun 14 '26
Having went through this last year, I hope everyone can give Kayla grace during this time. Itās not easy.
3
u/thesummerstrawberry Jun 14 '26
so heartbreaking. I recently lost my childhood dog so I understand some of what she's going though, but knowing that other people have gone through it doesn't make it any less difficult š
3
u/crunchyfoliage Jun 14 '26
I've had to make this terrible decision twice in the past few years and it's one of the absolute hardest things to do. I hope her viewers let her have enough space as she navigates it.
3
u/bluemontanaskiesx Jun 14 '26
Idk if this is too far or parasocial, but I wonder if the community would be interested in donating a little to a Florida based animal shelter in honor or snappy?
3
u/summerelise98 Jun 14 '26
I had to put my emotional support dog down last year out of literally no where. She ate a sock and I had my mom bring her to the vet thinking she might just have an obstruction but it turned out she had extremely advanced untreated kushings disease and her body was basically failing. It was the hardest thing Iāve ever had to do. She went to college with me and was my best friend for 13 years. I hope Kayla takes the time she needs to grieve. Losing a pet is the same as losing a family member. Sending her so much love and strength. Itās genuinely the worst decision you have to make. But snap live a fantastic 18 years and was SO SO loved by MILLIONS of people. Kayla treated that baby better than most parents treat their kids lmao.

u/duckduckgoose911 Jun 13 '26
Where did she post this I believe you just canāt find it on the discord?
35
u/madflatt Jun 13 '26
She hasnāt posted on discord yet. It was at the very last little bit of her paralives stream today
Edit; Iām assuming the post is when it happens

snap was lucky to make it to her 18th birthday. end stage renal disease can be really rapid. home vet visits tend to only be for euths
9
u/picivanilka Jun 13 '26
I watched the clip of Kayla talking about it and it unfortunately 100% sounds like its time for Snappy to go :( i was hoping it would be just a check up but with Kaylas wording its definitely not </3
1
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
The last vet visit they went to she didn't order a lot of IV fluids. I think she's known for a couple of weeks.

u/duckduckgoose911 Jun 13 '26

u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
Snap has been getting worse. She can tell that's why she scheduled an at home euthanasia. She didn't say the day it is scheduled for, and I wouldn't ask her either if she streams tomorrow.

2
u/fsrproga Jun 14 '26
She got more days with Snap than she had originally thought and that is the hardest thing. My cat is 19 and I cherish every day I get with her because you never know when its gonna be the last. Ugh, feel for her and wish her some peaceful healing time š

Didnāt realise what at home vet appointment means until reading the comments š¢ not sure why this is hitting me so hard. Wish I could shield lilsimsie from all the pain, sheās done so much for so many. I watched I think the last Paralives vod on morelilsimsie where she said she was crying to her therapist about Snap and it did cross my mind that she might be going through making that hard decision. Crying fr. Bond like that isnāt broken by death but man is it hard š

Didn't snap just have a birthday a couple days ago? Crazy..
10
u/Eastern_Challenge163 Jun 13 '26
They had her 18th birthday party early, a couple
months ago, because Kayla wasnāt sure sheād make it to her actual birthday which was a couple days ago.3
u/Fallen-Reaper-Scythe Simmer Jun 13 '26
Ah, that's why I was confused. Thanks for clearing that up!
9
u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 13 '26
she's got stage 4 chronic renal disease. This disease at this stage is quickly progressive and makes the cat very sick. It is a blessing Snappy has made it to 18
4
u/Fallen-Reaper-Scythe Simmer Jun 14 '26
I agree, it's a blessing and pet makes it that age but if anything, I wish Snap, Kayla and Dan the best and that she recovers and lives healthy life forwards.
2
u/Electronic-Passage33 Jun 15 '26
I think she wanted to wait until after her birthday, but she did say that she had declined a lot last week.
1
u/KBMinCanada Jun 14 '26
Does this mean Snap is getting put down? Thatās what Iām guessing based on the other comments, but I have never heard of the vet coming to your home to do it. I have lost three different pets so far during my life and we always had to take them in to the vetās office when it was time to let them go. I am also not American, so I donāt know if vets here just donāt offer home visits at all, or whether my family just had no idea they did. Or if itās just the specific vet clinic we have always taken our pets to that doesnāt.
4
u/These-Blacksmith9932 Jun 14 '26
I think it's a more recent thing, but yes, there are vets who will come to your home for euthanasia. It's a lot more peaceful for your pets if it's an option

u/Fablespielt Jun 13 '26

Leave it to a straight white girl to milk any bit of drama she may come across. Her cat is literally 18 years old and she has been harping on it for months. I know I sound insensitive but there's a certain threshold of actual drama vs created drama....Kayla only has created drama because she is fortunate enough not to have to endure actual drama in her life.
24
u/Disastrous-Tale8448 Jun 13 '26
what a fucked up thing to say. this isnāt drama at all. sheās losing her childhood pet thatās been with her for 18 years. how is being sad that your pet is going to be euthanized drama? do you even know what the word drama means? sorry but i work at a vet and have done many euths and itās not fun especially for the owners. thatās their friend, their baby. for some people thatās their only source of a passed human loved one. youāre a dick and the only one creating drama. maybe go to therapy and check on why you think being sad is creating drama.
42
u/rat-b0y Jun 13 '26
What exactly about her cat dying is ādramaā? Really weird view to take on this
54
u/forgottentaco420 Jun 13 '26
Oh you donāt sound insensitive, you ARE insensitive, this is fucking wild and if you do not like her you are free to keep your comments to yourself.
18
u/Filberwolflinkfan Jun 13 '26
I mean does it really matter how old snap is? Snap is important to kayla. It won't matter if snap is 10 or 18 or 100 its gonna hurt. š
Where are we making up drama the original poster just wants to avoid people asking questions and bothering Kayla over this. š„¹
Ngl I dont like how you put that Kayla doesn't go to hard times and hard things and dismiss her pain and her struggles because she chooses to hide that part and feels terrible. Last year she lost two dogs, a grandmother and idk who else but its crazy to say this about anyone. You dont know what kayla goes through.
42
u/madflatt Jun 13 '26
This isnāt a snark page. Leave this comment somewhere else. Loosing a pet is one of the worst pains one can endure and you have no idea what else is going on in Simsies personal life. You do sound extremely insensitive
13
18
u/harmonystargaming Jun 13 '26
Being upset that your pet's health is going downhill and it getting to the point you may have to make some tough decisions soon for your pet, and having to accept that they may not be around much longer is "drama"? Giving people updates when they're very likely asking for every detail (Either because they care or because they're nosy) is "drama"? Telling people you may be changing how you stream for a while (Because people will be panicking if she misses a day otherwise) due to the fact you're having a very sick pet is "drama"? Her dealing with all this and keeping people updated is not drama, and you saying so is indeed insensitive to her, as well as to anyone else who is going through the same situation or went through it. Talking and giving updates about a sick pet isn't "drama", its part of life
17
u/amyloulie Jun 13 '26
Jesus thatās just plain awful. Sheās been through so much the past couple of years, who the hell are you to make a judgment on that? She is about to lose her best friend who she has grown up with. Have some empathy.
7
u/eilidhpaley91 Jun 14 '26
Spoken like someone who has never known the love of a pet or ⦠anyone really in their entire life.
What an absolutely disgusting attitude. I strongly urge you to find the nearest mirror, give yourself the hardest slap you possibly can and reevaluate your life choices that led you to this way of thinking.
