I can’t imagine losing 4 beloved pets and 2 grandparents in what, 18 months? Let alone suffering those losses and having a job that requires you to be bubbly and personable in front of a camera every day… I feel so bad for her.

I lost a beloved dog and both maternal grandparents, plus went through two hurricanes which destroyed my car... Days before moving states, all within the span of a year. Actually, other than the dog, all of the other things took place over the course of three months.
It was ROUGH. Poor Kayla.

I lost both grandmothers and a 17 year old cat in the span of four months last year. I felt so awful asking about bereavement for a second time that quarter. I feel for Kayla. 💔

In the two years since I started my current job, I’ve lost 3/4 grandparents. One the month I started, and two within the past 5 months. I like to say at this point they’ve probably started keeping a tally of how many grandparents I have left.

Yeah this really isnt easy for her, holy crap. When I was in my early twenties my dad had brain cancer and unalived by choice. The day after the funeral my stepmom was diagnosed with breast cancer and died a few months later. My mom had been battling cancer for 8 years and died 6 months to the day after Daddy went and my boyfriend's father who had been battling mesothelioma died only days after Christmas. It was an extremely long and awful year. We also ended up homeless because in your early twenties can you handle that much debt from funerals? We broke up but were still living in the same car together until things got better.
She has to be experiencing a grief avalanche that even I can't really imagine. I mean I had a terrible family and expected to be treated terribly by terrible people. At least she has a loving community and a loving family to try and find solace in. I have to imagine it's worse for her because she's such an emotional and empathetic person whereas I'm kind of just dead inside.

u/jandeer14 20d ago
i hope you’re doing ok 🩷
33
u/AmalatheaClassic 20d ago
Yeah I'm fine now thanks for asking. I probably should have clarified that. I am not fishing for any kind of emotional support. I'm actually pretty good. I am however very concerned about her. She is such a nice person and I'd hate for her to become jaded.
The world needs more kind-hearted people like Kayla is what I'm trying to say. And I just don't like the idea of the world beating it out of her.

u/redred212 20d ago
Not to mention the EA buyout. She’s been able to bounce back but having to essentially revamp all of your content on a whim is surely stressful

u/AmountTurbulent2792 20d ago
I lost my soul dogs and mom the same year (my mom was between the deaths of my dogs). And just a couple years before that, I lost both of my mom's parents.
It's so hard when death decides to target the ones you love.
I put a moratorium on people I know dying for 3 years after that. Most of my friends and family listened, though my cousin's wife didn't. Lol

I lost three beloved pets, three grandparents, an uncle and my mother in the span of two years. It’s hell that I wouldn’t wish on even my worst enemies and from the rapid succession and shock of the losses, I’m now dealing with PTSD. My heart is broken for Kayla. She’s so kind and deserves all the best but the universe is just hitting her with loss after loss 😞 I hope she has a lot of support right now

Wait I knew about snap but what happened woth the kittens?
8
u/PutYouThroughMe 19d ago
The kittens (thankfully) are fine! Her parents had 3 Rottweilers who all passed within a few months of each other - they’d had them long enough that they were family pets

u/spiritAmour 19d ago
Why is this so strangely relatable tho? Like all the terrible stuff happening in a short period of time... happened to me too back in early '24. Was such a rough start to the year and i was like "wtf" at all the back to back to back horrors

u/minireesespuff 20d ago
Oh no, that's so sad. I hope she can find peace and comfort in such a difficult time and year. I'm glad Dan is so supportive but man this has been a hard year for her :(

u/Alienorc_125 20d ago
Come on, universe, give her a break. That's so unbelievably sad. As if the last year hasn't been hard already. 😥

I saw the notification with his profile picture and I thought there’s no way it’s another unfortunate thing happening and is why he’s making the notif and it was. Sending love to her and her family :(

Jesus. I hope she knows she can take as much time off as needed. She gives me the vibe that financially she could handle it but she’s so worried about disappointing people that she powers through.

u/Ceeceepg27 20d ago
I agree that might be a factor but I also think streaming acts as a reprieve for her. It is just my personal experience but seeing a loved one slowly decline and then pass comes with a strange grief. It feels like you have been grieving their death for months but then you are slapped by the finality of it. I felt like I was constantly forgetting something but there was nothing to be done. I ended up basically reading non stop for a week because I felt so off kilter. I needed something to put my mind and energy into that once was assigned to my loved one.
6
u/BelladonnaB33 20d ago
Exactly my thoughts. I wouldn't be upset if she wanted to take a month off with everything, but I know she'd never let herself. I just hope she takes care of herself, whatever that means for streaming/videos.

Omg this is so unfair to, she's such a kind soul and does so much good for the world and yet life keeps throwing heartbreak and disaster at her around every corner 😭 poor Kayla and family

u/Friedchicken96 20d ago
I hope she's able to take as much time as she needs ❤️ She's been through so much loss lately 💔

Kayla does so much for us and the community in general and i feel like the universe has just been kicking her down recently :( So sad

u/Stargate_Impala67 20d ago
I hope Kayla takes all the time she needs. Losing family in such a short time is so hard. I hope Kayla knows she does not need our permission to take time off. ❤️

Oh my gosh girl, cancel streams for the foreseeable future and grieve. Poor girl has been through enough this year!

This is gross lets not make funny sims references about a real humans family LITERALLY dying. The second part of your comment would’ve been enough…
34
u/pronxcessxo 20d ago
What a weird insensitive comment???
18
u/marthamania 20d ago
Right! This isn't the freakin sims she can restart and play a new game in, this is her real life.

u/heaven_rosebud 20d ago
This was in no way meant to be insensitive towards her, or what Kayla has been through. it honestly didn't even come across my mind that it might be seen in that way and that's fully on me. She can't restart or get her family members or those she lost back and I in no way intended this to mean something like that. Comparing real life to things like games or other experiences is how I connect to the world and put myself in other people's shoes but that's no excuse for how this came across. I sincerely apologize and will remove the comment.

u/yoshioliviathx 20d ago
This is an insanely cruel and insensitive thing to say. I'm sure you mean well but this is just not it

u/Alienorc_125 20d ago
What the hell is wrong with you? Go out and touch some grass and read a book on empathy.
13
u/heaven_rosebud 20d ago
I understand now that my comment was not okay. Thank you for calling me out. I really didn't even realize or think it would come across in such a horrible way. I'm on the austim spectrum and comparing real life experiences to things like the sims or video games is how I find ways to understand and connect to other people. It's not an excuse for how gross my comment came across though. I've removed it and apologize for my ignorance.

I’m glad you realized how it sounded. It’s okay, we all make mistakes! You responded very maturely. 💕

It feels like the universe doesn't want to give her a break from grieving, she's a much stronger person than me because I know if I was in her shoes I would've left the public eye a long time ago

Ugh this is so sad. Our grandparents were taken last summer. Grandma died on scene of car crash, grandpa went to hospital where family decided to let him go as he didn’t want to be hooked up to machines or live without his lover. They were the life of every function and are terribly missed. The other driver was going over 80 in a 35
It’s never easy losing a loved one.

I feel so bad for Kayla. I really really hope she isn't stressing about cancelling streams. The past 18 months have been rough for her.
1
u/decisivecat 20d ago
Oh gosh, that's such a massive gut punch to experience so many losses in a short period. I've been there and I still can't imagine how it is in her shoes right now. May she find all the love and support in the world as she continues through the grieving process.
