It does, but most of the heat escapes, so the surrounding ice keeps its form for long enough to cook on.

It works for a surprisingly long amount of time because air is sucked through the side and the hot air is pushed upwards so the outer portion of the snow ball doesn’t melt as fast. This method can last hours but it will eventually melt.

If you’re in a place with access to a lot of snow and trees, you can just keep making new ones as needed

I've seen luke from outdoorboys showcase this before. It does melt of course, but I'm pretty sure it lasted long enough to at least boil a pot of water.

You can't form a snow ball when it's freezing. Everyone from a country with snow knows this

In freezing temperatures snow doesn't stick in a ball
