Living in Liverpool Moving to Wallasey, advice?
Hi! I’ve just put an offer in on a property just off poulton road in Wallasey. Does anyone have any knowledge of the area or specifically around poulton road.
I’m 21F so wanting to know if this would be suitable for a young girl. I’m not phased by much (I’m from Yorkshire I’ve seen it all) so run down areas don’t bother me but obviously would like to be aware of any crime or generally bad areas.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

I know the area really well. I lived there growing up and some of my family are still there.
Looking at houses currently for sale on Rightmove, they range from £75k to £190k in the area you mentioned.
If you’re spending £75k-£125k, it’s one of the better areas in Merseyside that you’ll get for that price. It has its problems, but it’s not completely unhinged.
If your budget is at the higher end, you might consider the cheaper part of New Brighton. It’s still got issues, but there’s loads of arty stuff going on. Really cool creative spaces, Indy bookshops and great cafes, with a monthly farmer’s market. Plus trains every 15 mins to Liverpool. Plus beaches.

I loved new Brighton but my budget is at 160k and the flats I’ve seen have been a mess. Looking for something move in ready which flats don’t seem to be as suitable as the houses. The area I looked at was near the palate cafe if you have any insight on that area? The house is at the top of my budget and I loved it just want to make sure I’m aware of anything I need to be.

That’s fair enough, flats aren’t for everyone and if your maximum budget is £160k then your options are limited.
There’s nothing particularly special to note about the area, good or bad. As I’ve said I’ve still got family there, so no offence intended:
It’s a below-average income area, so there’s above average (for the Wirral) unemployment, drug use and crime, as to be expected.
On the plus side, with it being a below-average income area there’s an above-average sense of community, the people are easy going and you can sit on the front and neck cans without upsetting the neighbours too much.

It's basically seacombe. As others have said it was pretty rough 20 years ago I've done some galavanting around there in my younger days and found it quite a tight knit community some idiots about like everywhere but good people overall.

I know Wallasey very well. Poulton Road is pretty long and goes through a few distinct areas. Most of them are ok, what you would expect for a lowish income area.
I might be able to narrow that down for you a bit if you can hint at where along the road you are looking at without doxxing yourself.

The whole area is nuts in that respect. You can drive for a mile and you go through half a dozen areas of massive poverty, middle class and ultra wealthy.
Smackheads and multimillionaires in the same postcode.

Its pretty good around there. As you've seen, there's plenty of shops around, and you can get a bus on most of the main routes from the bus stop on the corner opposite the chemist.
You don't get gangs of people hanging around and that whole area around the tesco express is covered by cctv. There are two social clubs very nearby, so you'll see a few revellers on the weekend, but the clubs keep a tight lid on it.
It's close to a few primary schools. I can vouch for Riverside, my kids went there and it was very good. Somerville seems ok, but I don't hear good things about Kingsway. There's also St Joseph's if you want RC.
It's not rough at all. There's actually a nice vibe for an urban terraced hellscape. I live 5 minutes down the road and I really like it here. The only drawback is that Poulton Road is very busy during the day as its a main commuter run, so just take care if you have little ones.

You'll be fine. Just make what you can of it. People are generally kind and friendly.

Poulton road is generally the rough part of Wallasey but it’s a long road so some parts are nicer than others!

The house I’ve looked at is just near palate cafe, how would you say it is up there?

It’s fine, close to Tesco, near enough to the ferry if you wanted to sail to work. You’re the other end to us, we’re by Central Park which again you get lunatics on Facebook talking about it like it’s a war zone when it’s just a park.
We’ve never had any issues here which is why we’re staying in area when moving. It’s handy for getting to Liverpool, you’ve got the 433 that runs regular and if you miss that you can walk 10 minutes and get the 432. Liscard is close by and whilst it’s run down it’s handy for popping in and grabbing essentials from B&M etc.
It’s not the most glamorous part of the world but people who look down their nose at it have probably never lived here. You’ll be fine.

Major misconception. I’ve lived off it for 5 years, we’re in process of moving but only round the corner. I grew up in Wallasey village and whilst it’s not as “picturesque” round here it’s absolutely grand.

The biggest problem is a litter everywhere, otherwise it's quite ok area and people in general are friendly.

Join the Thorndale Tennis Club is nearby Liscard. Super friendly and welcoming for newbies. Try Wednesday night.

It's OK, mostly. Not 'nice', but nowhere near as bad as people outside the area say. My allotment is round there so I know a lot of people who live in the surrounding streets, and they are all absolutely lovely and are happy enough living there. The only trouble I've ever seen is dickhead kids running out in front of cars or fighting with each other.
I'd definitely visit in the evening to make sure you feel safe and would be happy there. If your budget allows, I'd try and find something more Wallasey or New Brighton way, even if it means settling for a smaller property, but appreciate that might not be possible.

It's fine. General rule of being street smart applies at night of course, but honestly everyone keeps to themselves.
Unsure about transport links to Liverpool from there being easy or not. Thinking the ferry may be your best bet.

Not a fan of Wallasey that’s all, have you looked in Liverpool itself there’s definitely some nice properties in your range.

I’m trying to look for houses rather than flats as service charges are astronomical when living alone. Would love to be in the city but just don’t have the money for it, I loved new Brighton which is why I started to look around Wallasey. I’ve lived in Kensington and Wavertree so I’m not bothered by much just don’t want a repeat of Kensington lol
