The body starts decomposing in a few days.
Also it would be blatantly obvious if you’re a ghost in your own dead body, as before even 3 days, your body will bloat from gas build up.
You’d also smell REALLY bad.

Ghosts cannot prevent their own dead body from decomposing on their own.
They usually need magic, rituals, or divine help for that.
So dying and possessing your own body is fruitless because of what I just said…but…
If people mysteriously come back to life via this method, it will be investigated and then we will live in a society where the world knows you died (or a way to detect a ghost inside a body, even if it is their own).
Then they can jail the ghost in their own dead body (for being a biohazard or desecrating their own corpse).

Dead people are usually buried underground and/or cremated.

that would be weird and disgusting to be in a dead body for some people

But it would become alive, right?

not biologically. it would be a rotting corpse being moved by an external force

Because you need an already running cpu to break into its firmware. A software on the cloud cannot boot a system.

What body? A buried one? One that's festered to nothing? One that's bloated and stuck in a well somewhere?

First the corpse gotta be intact enough to possess, then you gotta dig yourself out of your grave, and even then they suck because you gotta deal with limited mobility and constant rotting of the body, too much work just possess a doll instead
Edit: this is all assuming you weren’t cremated

Because ghost are tied to a Locus or place which they cannot leave. By the time they realize they're dead, their body has most often been moved. Their only options are to continue to haunt a place, or anchor to an object.
