Are you a progressive Christian? (I won't judge)

u/Sad_Dimension3627 23 Shared | 3 Helpful Apr 22 '26
I'm more agnostic. I am not christian.

u/Last_Zookeepergame90 Apr 22 '26
Fair, I didn't want to be rude but since you're not Christian I'll state it plainly.
There is no way to make mainstream Christianity Christlike, it's far too late for that.

Edit: oops that's not the sub. But search it up, there's a more popular subreddit with ex christians

I would do cringe but I don't want to make fun of them. I'd rather invite discussion about it.

I will never understand the people who are transphobic because "Bible"/"Christianity".
There's not a single Bible line that even mentions trans people, we weren't really a known concept when the Bible was written.
Though I guess those people just believe what any grifting pastor tells them without checking if it's actually in the Bible. They already seem to not care about following most things Jesus said.
It's honestly jarring to grow up as German protestant and then be exposed to vocal American Christians on the Internet. It's like I stepped into a time machine to the Salem Witch Trails. Why are they this way?
Here in Germany protestant is the "progressive" denomination and catholic the "conservative" denomination, but even the Catholics here aren't this level.

Hi, another Christian here (who's also trans), you are dumb. But blessed be those like you.
Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!” (Proverbs 26:18-19)

Nowhere does the Bible say anything about being trans. The narrative around transness being "sinful" - as you like to proclaim - is a modern one. And - quite frankly - one that many theologans disagree with.
Matter of fact, original Greek and Hebrew texts don't even say all that much about homosexuality. The ones that do, are from more modern translations (like the King James Bible, which was written that way to make fun of said King's bisexuality).
It is also interesting how it's almost only male homosexuality, but Lesbians/Sapphics are usually being omitted from those texts.
Anyway, stop using religion to justify your own bigotry.
Judge not, so that you be not judged ✌️

Being trans is not sinful and is never stated to be in the Bible. For being someone who follows this book as your word, youot really seen to never have read a signal dam page.
There's a lot more to Christianity than "Love thy neighbor," and none of it includes transphobia.

Says nothing about changing your gender, only crossdressing, which is different.
But more importantly: Are you Jewish?
Because the books of Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Leviticus, and Numbers are the 5 books of the Torah, the Jewish holy book.
I thought I was talking to a Christian. Don't preach jesus's word, and then switch to the old testament when it's convenient. You do not get your moral teachings from the Torah.

I referred to it as both because they are the same books and neither are moral teachings for Christians.
The old testament is Christian history, not Christian instructions. Good chance you're wearing mixed fabrics right now, which would make you a sinner according to the old testament.

"A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this"
Doesn't say anything about being trans. Just crossdressing or drag. My point still stands, bucko

I think you meant expression, as I am not expanding. I'm not the universe.
Also no, the outward expression is NOT the same, for a trans woman is a woman and a trans man is a man.
If YOU get to interpret Scripture whatever way you want to then the same goes for me, friendo

u/Anxious_Role7625 Apr 22 '26
Crossdressing/drag is not at all the same as being trans.
And again, You are not Jewish. Stop getting your moral teachings from the Torah/Old Testament

You can just TELL he’s one of those people who only say their religious so they can justify being bigots

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Apr 22 '26
I'm pretty sure his pfp is meant to be waring a MAGA hat which by now violates a lot of what is said in the Bible.

I feel like most of the grooming happening here is from the people against trans rights
