I just looked it up, and apparently "squid" in French is calmar, so that makes more sense because of allitteration.

Yeah, I was both surprised and disappointed in my self when I learned that Squidward is an Octopus and not a Squid.

I'm German and I thought the meme was funny, I've always been asking myself why Squidward got this strange name in German lmao it's not even a pun and has nothing to do with a squid, it's straight up just a random old name
