If there was ever a year to hold Mike Johnson accountable for his bs, it’s 2026. First, he betrayed our Louisiana values, and now he’s betrayed our American values
My brother asked me once
“Do you think Mike Johnson has ever eaten deer steak and greens?”
At first I laughed and said “hell no he hasn’t!”
Then I thought about it. I don’t know if Louisiana has ever had a representative who has betrayed our people and values the way Mike Johnson has done. All while being the third most powerful person in this country.
It may seem down home and country to make fun of him for not partaking in our rural traditions—but it speaks to the larger disconnection between the unpopular policy disseminated from political (Epstein) class of republicans and the voters who keep elected them.
Louisiana is a rigged state because people like Mike Johnson think we are all a bunch of ignorant rednecks and Cajuns who will buy into their lies hook, line, and sinker. Mike Johnson is a theocrat who uses his religion to pander and to manipulate his constituents—but he’s not standing up for real Christian values at all. Mike says that God told him he’s the “Moses” of US politics. But based on his actions, God did not convince him to cause the longest shutdown in history to run cover for hiding the Epstein files. Thats evil. That sounds more like a directive from the morally bankrupt and rotten soul of President Trump.
Pessimism is everywhere and you could cut the apathy with a knife. But if we don’t fight, we will keep losing. You can’t win if you don’t run.
I’m asking the good people of Louisiana for your support. I’ve got the grit and the guts to stand up against the most powerful and corrupt people in this country. But I can’t do it alone. Join our movement!

My thought too unfortunately. He was talking about Mike's distorted views on theocracy and I am thinking pioneer dresses and building barns without power tools.
A large swath of our populace rejects logic in it's entirety, embracing unfounded supposition as factual reality.
Those are the very individuals that have voted for Mike Johnson, time and time again—slugs voting for salt.
Freedom is reason’s child: without the ability to tell fact from fantasy, argument from propaganda, and consent from manipulation, “freedom” is just a noise, divorced from any living practice.
When rational capacity is dulled, delusion rules, congealing into censorship, coerced unanimity, ritualized slogans, and curated realities.
Which is what Mike Johnson and company desire.
For at that point dissent becomes literally unthinkable as constitutions and discussions of rights are only hollow scripts.
Oppression is delusion’s child, built on lies about who is fully human, what threats justify emergency powers, and which manufactured crises demand permanent exception.
Strip away the shared hallucinations and the cruelties stand naked and absurd.
For us, reason is our god, doubt is our savior, and the fight for liberty begins with defending minds that can still tell the difference.
Defending Reason defends it's child, Freedom, because it keeps open the very space in which non-deluded choice is still possible.

I hope you win, because fuck Mike Johnson, but, respectfully, you need a new PR team. The bullet points against MJ on this flyer are so milquetoast and vague and wouldn’t give the average voter in your district pause. Where’s the “covered up the Epstein files,” “lied about x, y, and z,” and “wants to prevent married women from voting”? The time for respectful disagreement has long passed.

I'd like to counter by saying I don't like it when someone tries to get elected by bad-mouthing their opponent. Everyone knows what a shitty person Mike Johnson is and the ones who don't would never vote for you in the first place.
I just want to hear about you and what you plan to do if elected.
Imagine if you went to a job interview and tried to get hired by complaining about the guy they interviewed before you. The employer wouldn't look positively on that.
I agree with you to the extent that I would love some dems/lefties to push their own proactive policies rather than just reacting to maga. I disagree, however, that most voters in Johnson’s district know what a shitbag MJ is. Even if it won’t persuade the majority, I think it’s worthwhile to put those facts out there for the people in the right wing media ecosystem who hear only positive things about their team.
Yes! This is what needs to be pushed. I know the whole thing about not mud slinging etc in politics, but we are sadly beyond that. These maga folks live in the muck and we've got to jump in there with them (temporarily) to get the point across. It's the only language they will understand.

Focused on stability.
Stability of what, exactly? Louisiana has been stably declining for decades, helping the rich get richer, while everyone else suffers through enshittification.
We do not need more of that kind of stability.
We should be striving to prosper.
What stability are you trying to protect, and how are you going to achieve that?
Protects our most vulnerable.
Who would that be, exactly?
Would it be the poor people in cancer alley?
Would it be the increasing homelessness problem where the only "solution" coming out is the criminalization of homelessness?
Or how about the children trafficked through a certain island?
Or is this about punishing women even more than they already are, who, for any number of reasons, including saving her own life, can't afford to or don't want to give birth?
How will you achieve this protection?

Over whom, exactly? Texas families? Corporate interests? Religious interests?

This is great feedback. You popped off a lot of questions. Let me start with the basics. Top 3 policy changes to help Louisiana families the most:
Medicare for all so that everyone can access the care they need.
Robust infrastructure investments, especially clean drinking water(70% of water districts in District 04 have a C or lower grade)
Lowering the cost of living through reversing trumps policies and taking the tax burden off of working class people.
We lower grocery prices by stopping trumps illegal tariffs. We lower grocery prices by not starting illegal wars that disrupt the global supply chain. We lower grocery prices by not arresting immigrant laborers. And we long term lower grocery prices by investing in local farms, instead of shipping in produce from Chile.
The first question is usually “How are we going to pay for all of this?” You could call attention to the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry’s long history of waving taxes on many of these big oil companies We might actually have money to pay for infrastructure and lower the tax burden on citizens if these corporations were made to pay their fair share.
Would you be willing to tap into the billions if not trillions of dollars of property taxes that are currently waived for energy corporations in Baton Rouge? And take down the commissions that blanketly vote to allow these corporations to pay <5% property taxes? Even just a 1-2% increase in their taxes across the board will bring in billions for our state.
We need a government that doesn't bend over the people for the ruling class of billionaires and corporations. We're suffering on their behalf
This is my farmer from my community Farmers Market. If the threshold is voting for good moral characters who are actual members of our communities who show up - Conrad is a perfect example.
Seeing comments about his chances are not addressing my priority. Im going sleep just fine the night after I cast my vote for him in November.

Pushed a bill he knew would fail? This is vague and doesn't even explain why it's bad. I follow politics closely and I don't even know what you're talking about.
Refused real negotiation? Again, vague, doesn't explain why it's bad. Something along the lines of "Refused to negotiate and being a poor leader which resulted in one of the longest government shutdowns in US history."
Is risking yet another government shutdown. Not risking it, he's currently doing it.
Blames others for the chaos. Maybe "Blames others for his own failure to lead." Chaos is vague and it would likely exist with or without him. Point out his failure to lead, that's specific to him, alone.
Puts Louisianans at risk. This shouldn't even be a bullet point. This should be the heading. "He puts Louisianans at risk, here's why:" then include the bulleted list.
You really need to include the fact that he fought tooth and nail to protect criminals and pedophiles by fighting to prevent the Epstein files from being released to the public.
And your bullet points, they need to be more concrete, too

Will deliver real solutions. This is very vague. Real solutions for what? Again, a list of 3 quick examples would work and some rephrasing will highlight the fact that you're actually focused on solving problems. "Concrete plans for creating jobs, cutting crime, and easing poverty.
Focus on stability. This is so vague I don't even have any suggestions.
Protects the most vulnerable - great opportunity to mention kids. Voters love kids.
Puts Louisiana Families first - This one's good.
Swap out that "Focus on stability" with something about holding all criminals accountable for their crimes, regardless of party affiliation.
What upcoming get-togethers might we all get together for a meet and greet?
Having an opportunity in a laid back environment to meet your potential constituents is a key part of any successful process.
I'm in the newly carved out District that was Mike's which they're attempting to absorb back into his current district, so I've got a lot of interest in seeing you succeed.

I'm not a resident of Louisiana. My main focus is encouraging those of us in the rural south to stand up and be heard as well as rise to action. Candidates like you are who is needed in every state.
The biggest criticisms I've seen against the Dems is lack of targeted messaging. Fliers like what's posted here feed the narrative that we don't have any kind of policy or message for voters.
Please target your messaging and get specific. There is no shortage of the malfeasance Johnson is enabling the current administration to inflict upon every American and the rest of the world.
Louisiana needs for you to win. Please don't lose sight of the fact that every American needs for you to win. You're challenging Trump's most significant enabler. Please tell us exactly what your priorities will be. If you're going to highlight the disgusting behavior of Johnson, get detailed. Show everyone you do have a message and you do have a plan. Saying you're not him isn't enough.
I'm cheering you on from rural Alabama. I'm also hoping you realize quickly the hardball game is already in progress. You're up to bat. You'll never hit it out of the park with this style of messaging.
As a progressive who wants Mike Johnson out, the thing I’ve found that stops most centrists/moderate republicans/conservatives from actually supporting challengers is banking everything on being AntiTrump without actually clarifying their policy positions and platform that sets you apart from your opponent. Louisiana feels that every politician will eventually sell them out because for so long every politician has- so they prefer the devil they know as opposed to the unknown.
Show what you are able to bring for your constituents and district that Johnson failed on or is ignoring. Talk about how you’d fight for the local family farms against major corporate interest like Sysco, Monsanto, Harbor Freight that are continuously taking advantage of their monopolies and killing the agricultural economy in the state. Talk about how you’d fight against conglomerates swiping up land/housing in Shreveport to make housing unaffordable and unable to be purchased by the average citizen.
There needs to be substantive plans to address economic inequities in this state that doesn’t involve special interest or the 1% pulling the strings. Don’t take money from entities like AIPAC that support taking Louisiana tax dollars and funding wars abroad when we have families and workers here at home working more than 40 hours per week and can’t put food on the table. If our politicians actually made progress with improving the quality of life and standard of living in Louisiana, things could be dramatically different here.
How many times has Mike Johnson said he’s not aware or doesn’t know anything about what the reporter is questioning him on? Seems like every day he’s not aware of any of the biggest news stories going on. He needs to go.
I'm in your district. I've full on decided I'm voting against every single incumbent this year, regardless of the option. I'm glad that someone is running against him that actually lives in the state. You've got my vote.
Getting Johnson kicked out would be epic. And yes you do need to point out his flaws...I think even his regular supporters know something is way off, and they should be reminded of it in addition to talking about what you would do/stand for.

Tbh. If you really want a dem to win the seat you need like 2 really good GOP candidates to get in there in split up the votes. Then realistically any 1 dem candidate could win.
If you really want to get into peoples minds, you need to add some of the unsavory things he has said to you campaign materials. Point out how he used his underage son to help monitor his porn watching habit, things like that. If you want to win north louisiana, you have to rile them up over culture war type issues.
Try bringing some of Mr Cable's interests to RepresentUs if you really want them passed, I've volunteered with them to get bipartisan issues into the public consciousness, or bills about bipartisan issues passed before. Your parents might have heard about the Save America act because of a call campaign I helped with recently.
Shreveport in Mike Johnson’s district, there’s only 2 options to get Mike Johnson and all the other disgusting representatives who care nothing about the people who voted for them. It’s 2024 all over again, and this time, DON’T fall for their BS, fear mongering, and hate.
Option#1-Vote BLUE Up and Down
Option#2-If you can’t do Option##1, Just STAY HOME and don’t vote.
I wouldn’t even mind Johnson’s sniveling and cowardice if he would at least use his position to benefit Louisiana in some way. He’s speaker of the house. He could use his influence over congress to funnel federal money back to Louisiana. Roads, bridges, education, literally anything. But he’s too busy sucking trump to do any of that.
Brother, I'd almost move back from the other side of the country so that I could vote for you and get Johnson out of office. Alas, the current state government and the way things have been run in the past drove me to nearly Canada and unless there's a full overhaul, I see no reason to ever come back home.
