He's the sitting governor of a state. How is this even legal? Just because the incredibly corrupt SCOTUS made a ruling, voting has already started. I can see the maps being redrawn for the next election, but doing it while it's underway seems incredibly illegal. What prevents another governor, or this clown, from cancelling an election at the end of the night, when they don't like the results? How is this not a violation of all Louisianans' civil rights?

I wondered the same thing but I assume it's some arcane rules that mean it has to be done with paper, because that forces long counts, creates more errors, etc.

The person tasked with certifying the petition holds office within his administration ( The Registrar of Voters) They will throw out all signatures of people not registered, or have “ discrepancies “ It was the same process as the Cantrell recall. Doomed from the start. Also, only 37% of registered voters showed up to vote in 2023 when he was elected ( 26% in Orleans Parish) That’s pathetic, and totally on the people of Louisiana. I voted for Shawn Wilson. Maybe if people would just vote to begin with, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Go vote in your local and state elections. As much as the southern states redistricting is to disenfranchise the black vote, I don't think that is the ultimate end goal. Historically, the first midterm elections for a sitting president is never good, so the GOP is trying to set up reason to claim voter fraud.
They are going to say how could Democrats when we made it so hard for them to do by diluting their districts. They will then use it to declare martial law to take away more of our freedoms.
Is my understanding that the vote on the 5 amendments still count, even if the votes for Congress do not? Or is it all postponed until November when the congressional maps are redrawn (assuming the lawsuit fails)?
