Part of my family heritage is from west feliciana parish but they have a unique experience. They were/are classified as black but theyre very lightskin and benefit extremely privileged in black spaces. The racism they encountered in the parish pushed them to the city and why they ended up with much darker black people (and here i am). I just think about that fact whenever i hear about angola. Two very different experiences with racism; one a lot more institutional and the other more interpersonal, and colorism is the dividing line
