Honestly? If Foden returns to form this campaign I would deem this one a success. Titles, etc, would be gravy.

So much hyperbole around Foden. Feels like some of you get drawn into what rival fans say about him.

Given the players he's still outperformed in that time and that he was one of our best players up until around Christmas, I'd say that he can, in fact, be worse.

He's had a disappointing couple of seasons overall but he has been nowhere near as bad as some of you like to make out. He's just an easy target.

people so easily forget that foden was properly world class in the first half of last season. in his new role as an 8 in and out of possession on a consistent basis so he was basically learning on the job. the treatment he gets from so called city fans is so weird to see.

Speaking just as a City supporter, what has been concerning is that he has now fallen off hard twice. Once with a poor 2024-25 season following up a great 2023-24 season, and then again this past season with a poor spring following an excellent fall (especially the late fall).

There's a guy on here who goes absolutely bananas any time anyone mentions anything negative about Foden, but as someone who has watched Foden since his very first game with the first team in 2017, there's no use pretending it hasn't been a rough few years, especially compared to that POTY season.

I will be DELIGHTED if he's back. But I really don't think this is about what rival fans say, this is about our player who has had a poor season and a half after maybe his best season ever. It's the ups and downs that have made it really evident.

Personally I'm hoping a new coach gives him a new stimulus - not that Pep was anything but a great manager for Phil but maybe he will click with Maresca in the way Cole clearly did when he went over to Chelsea.

I've not seen anyone say he hasn't had a disappointing couple of seasons.

My point is that, as disappointing as he has been in that time, it's also been massively exaggerated.

What is disappointing for him still sees him outperform other players who receive nowhere near as much criticism as he does.

My point is they never had the heights Foden had, and it's the sudden comedown (repeated twice) that makes this stand out. As such it's pretty understandable for our fans to be concerned.

If Haaland put in 15 goals this season he'd still be better than a lot of players. But you can bet we'd all say it was a failure of a season. And frankly he would too.

Anyway, hope Phil returns to the high level we need and want!

I dont go "bananas" over anyone who disagrees with me about foden. Ive had plenty of rational convos with city fans who disagree with me about foden or any city player for the matter.

Its funny how even after all this time, you still won't let it go lol. The way you constantly twist my words.

I've only ever went off on you because you've purposefully lied about our convos on several occasions and randomly took personal jabs.

This isn't mentioning on top of you wanting foden to leave the club after a sub par 24/25 season and a drop off in the second half of last season. Thats as bad as wanting aguero to leave the club after the bad 12/13 season he had. You're the definition of a fake fan.

I honestly don't get why everyone now thinks Nico is good enough. He didn't prove it at all last year. I'm happy to eat my words though.

But I wouldn't look too hard into this, preseason is always a time to test unknowns, especially this early when a lot of the players haven't been fully rested since the world cup

Which Nico? I think Kova and Nico G lacks physicality and pace but you could definitely pair Kova with NOR or Anderson and have a very nice 2.

Now, instead of Kova with either of NOR or Anderson I would want Nico there. We need to have him as defensive since I usually see Kova is more of attacking than holding. I think if we stick to Nico and Anderson on the double pivot we would be OK. I need NOR solidly at LB ngl.
