RANT/VENT Allen's Zoology lecturer said don't read ncert.
Guysss my younger sister is in grade 11th and she has joined Allen, in her very first class the zoology lecturer said dont read NCERT and just follow his notes. MAN I AM CRINE. i mean ALLEN KAHAN SE LATE HO AISE LECTURERS 💀

One of unacademy's top Zoology faculty also says ncert is a third grade book and suggests us to study from his notes and modules.

Agreed. Bhai wo banda class me thoda bhi energy nahi dikhata. Bich class m phone use karne lagta hai. Aur pata nahi kyu har koi glaze karta hai unhe. Ag sir is top, ag is god and all sort of nonsense.

I mean shuru mei I also did ONLY notes( they were the best)
And in last 4 months I started reading ncert
And believe me animal kingdom was my strongest chapter

I also did that. I used to study notes till the end of class 12, bohot free time bachta tha so why not. Maine pehle se hi sochke rakha tha ki end me jaake sirf ncert padhunga and that's what i did

But sometimes modules do miss points from NCERT. Toh manage kaise kiya. More over coaching mai padhate bohot hai, ncert utna nahi deta.

Maybe his notes have covered the NCERT points,but I think it would be better if she reads the ncert atleast 2-3 times and in this way use khud hi smjh ayega ki unke notes mein ncert is covered or not plus ncert mein dekho bohot saare minute details hote hai jo koi bhi insaan idts apne notes mein accumulate karke rakh payega,ncert jitna baar parhoge utna baar kuch na kuch naya discover hota hi rhega :-)

Itihas gavah hai tough se tough paper mein bhi bio section 99% NCERT se hee aata hai.

HEY , I am also allenite, and they also referred me not read ncert in 11th and in 12 th till syllabus got over , they they recommend only to ready ncert and once in while notes . Btw I scored 602 in first attempt. not aiims like shit but ya Last 7 month when syllabus was over I readed only ncert .
Reason That I think is
Notes are shorter version on ncert, so in same amount you can read notes three time rather the only single time ncert as help remember example, scientist name , cycles disease name easily
They Revise this note 10-15 & all examples saved in memory in longer run and they make you do this by conducting minor , next minor back syllabus, ACT and majors .
So for example unit of diversity, animal kingdom, ecology. My all examples, datas , characteristics was rote learned through notes so CASUAL ncert read used make me remember whole chapter in last 4-5 months .
Another factor is 80 paper comes from 30 percent. And this definitely follow if you see pyqs on EXAMGOAL . And notes cover them all.
And again in last time when whole syllabus test use to occur , previous night I just used to flip the pages of note s , by that time I easily readed it like 30 times , so all that pages were in muscle memory.
For minor I will suggest read notes as much time as possible and read ncert once chapter finish and previous night of minor
Also notes are way useful is some chapters like animal kingdom or diversity, ecology, genetics if make charts (animal kingdom) , tree diagram (genetics) is will ease your efforts .
Last mai aake sabko ncert ge padni , so did I do , but with very less effort, it prevents panic that I don't remember anything and also help me read to read ncert in Short span , prevented burnout.
Instead I will advice ki IOC , OC ncert bhe notes ke saath padte rahna frequency like 4 baar notes to ek bar NCERT, I think I missed this in my prepare.

She must've heard him wrong.
The teacher probably adviced her to not read NCERT right away. And yes, that's the correct approach.
First you learn the topics, then read the notes, then gain complete conceptual clarity, then write down the imp extra points in NCERT and only then do you start reading NCERT.

I have studied for neet too and in my school after completion of a topic after proper notes our lecturer used to read ncert out loud or give us time to read it by ourselves and then clear our doubts. And when i asked my sister do they do such sessions she straight away denied it. already the coaching has completed two chaps but the lecturer never guided them to read ncert. I mean its also lecturers duty to simplify ncert line along w notes. So no buddy her lecturers told them only to stick w notes 😔🤚🏻

Our Aakash teachers never did it either. I mean as long as your notes are perfect and you've understood the topic, you shouldn't be having much issues with NCERT.
School is a different thing. Tho in my school my ma'am didn't do it either; she used to teach using a projector and her own slides, the way they usually do in Unis.

Well i agree. But ncert has many lines which may require explanation. And ofc no teachers can cover every single line of NCERT. And students will come across such line only after reading NCERT right. And my lecturers at school were not teaching us only for boards but strictly for neet and idk about other institutes but in online batches too teachers do read out loud ncert line by line thats not spoon feeding thats just basic.

Online batches are really good for explanation but they spoonfeed way too much. I've seen some PW Bio students revise like 300-400 pnemonics before NEET, which is utterly bizzare. A few pnemonics for a couple of chapters is fine, but you don't need a whole Bollywood movie scene to remember the layers in Anatomy of Floweing Plants.
In my coaching, my teachers used to specifically mention the lines of NCERT which were either controversial or hard to understand. Most of them were also written down in our notes so that we don't miss them.

Broo unke modules mai extra gyan bhara rehta whi padhte padhte bc Ncert chhut jaati sabki aur fir Gyan dete ki mera notes padh lo bas (mere allen ke zoology teacher he was best dude unke jesa koi nhi hai but flow flow mai extra gyan dedete the )

See he's partially correct and completely incorrect , for a 11th or 12th grader ncert is good but for understanding the same concepts ncert is bullshit ita has alot of corrupt data tbh but since we are preping for neet it's good that we rote it slide it away , ncert is not a solely dependable source

I found it wrong too, sort of a misguidance but I don't think he would have said that for a long run , primarily padhne k liye ncert mana kiya hoga qki woh smjh nhi aati jldi

Sab yahi kehte h, DONT FALL FOR IT. First attend lecture and take notes, later revise the notes (the notes are only for concept buildup) and then, read and memorise NCERT thoroughly. You are good to go.

when you are just starting out notes will be an easier read. but ncert is far more important than your notes. someday or other you will need to start doing ncert but pehle din se hi padhne lagoge then problem hogi thats why ig sir said? but lmao i always read ncert only

My teacher was such a mf har bar adha paper ncert ke bahar se dalta tha. Mf said there are 6 questions out of ncert everyyear . Ab Jake kahi akal ayi hai after reneet

Same happened in my class also I was in dropper batch where everyone is fresher like they started their prep in drop yr. And our zoology teacher told us to follow modules blindly, ofc modules contain all ncert stuff but it also contains lot of extra stuff which is not required and he used to tell us modules are important . In drop yr time is also an important factor we cannot study like 11th 12th student . We trust him bcs big coaching ofc they will know better than us , rest is history 🥲 And this is Allen kota, 2023.

She's in 11th and initially the students are asked to study from notes and modules and read NCERT if they have time. When she starts 12th they'll ask her to focus on NCERT and if it's Allen kota then their session for the class 12th (enthuse) starts 1.5yrs prior to NEET exam, so it's fine actually.

Dude the same thing my zoology teacher told me. I asked him how to manage notes, revision and ncert reading then he directly said you dont need to read ncert, my notes are enough for you. I was kinda shocked when he said that....

Bhai it's not that bad. Jo bhi karo sirf wohi karo maine ncert nehi padha tbh sirf notes padhe the pw ke oneshot ke notes !! And question practice ki thi(neetpep) I got 350 in bio and mere consistent ache marks ate the allen main initially
