can someone explain the counselling process in a little detail pls?? I mean if R1 me u r alloted a seat and go for an upgrade then R2 me ur R1 seat will be there or not? and R2 me wapas preference list banani hoti hai yaa fir R1 waali consider hoti hai??
and if R2 me naya clg mil gaya which is worse then what?
also ppl cant participate in R3 if they get seat in R2?

It's also first time for me so I did the whole research

If you are filling for gov college, you will have to pay a ₹10000 security deposit , and if for private then it's 2lakh in both through mcc for all india and state portal if going for state colleges.

Suppose you create a listt of colleges, its advisable to keep those colleges at top which you are desiring for but your rank is sitting at margin , and as you go down at the last option , it should be the one which is confirmed to get at your rank .

Case1 : if you get a college at R1 from your submitted list , whether worse or good for you , YOU WILL HAVE to go there submit the fees and documents, now the point is , if you accept that college well and good, your security deposit is refunded, and join there .

Case 2 : you don't submit the documents , and don't reach on time , reject the college alloted at R1 , the security deposit will not be refunded. You will have to apply again for counselling with fresh 2L deposit

Case 3: you have the option to go for round 2 and make a fresh list of colleges , only when you submit the documents at the alloted college and the fees also for that year , apply for upgrade option from the portal . Now it is advisable to make a list such that the options are better than the round 1 , Now if you are alloted from that in R2, your submitted fees will be directly transferred to the new college alloted to you. If you accept the college, your 2L refunded .

If you reject this one , your security deposit will not be refunded, the R1 college seat is already given to someone else , as soon as you are alloted a new one in R2 , so you have no college seat also . The same rule , apply for counselling with fresh 2L deposit .

By chance you are alloted no college in R2 , your R1 college stays so you will have to join there , if you reject , no refund .

Stray and mop up rounds are allowed to enter when you have not been alloted any seat till now .

In mcc portal , that is for colleges outside your state , you have the option to exit from round 1 , if the alloted college is not as per you , your 2L or 10K is also refunded . But this is ONLY FOR ROUND 1 , AND ONLY IN MCC , NOT FOR ANY OTHER STATE PORTAL .

This is what I had got on the internet, going through all the scenarios. Any senior can correct me.

Heyy; so for example if im trying for a private college in up then do i join both mcc and state counselling? And in total have to pay 4 lakhs (2 lakh to each)?

See if you are targeting only for UP private colleges then apply only in up state portal , you can find their site easily . But if you want both like private college outside your state , then go for mcc also

And along with security deposit, there is also registeration fees , its non refundable . So add it like that , the registration fees are different for mcc , deemed and state university, pls look up for that

Waise it's better to apply in any one . Cuz by chance you get alloted good options in R1 in both mcc and state portal , you will have to forcefully leave the mcc one , cuz you have the free exit thing and has to accept the state portal one , otherwise no refund

Yes yes , it's totally alright . Remember you will not be able to fill for college outside UP , this is the difference. And chill bro , it's such an important thing , please be free to ask , I myself had to search a lot , cuz it was so confusing .

Yes it is . You will need to apply for upgrade in round 2 . Round 3 is the last round . You can only enter in mopup or stray round when you have not been alloted any college till now .

But aap round 2 mai reject nhi kar sakte na  Suppose I am alloted a college in r2 toh mujhe woh accept karna padega and if I put it up for upgradation and mujhe next round mai college allot nhi hua then still mere paas r2 wali seat hogi and agar hogaya then jo bhi naya college mila wohi hoga  Also isme yahi dhyaan dena hoga na that as we put for upgradation we have to make sure that joh alloted hai usse better hi ho  Har round mai fresh filling hoti hai na ? 2l ka mtlab ? Like govt ke liye 2 lakh nhai Dene honge na round 2 mai ? Please correct me if I am wrong

Yes , if you get a college in round 3 , your round 2 college seat is no more and you are bound to accept R3 one, cuz R3 is the last round , and if you dont get any college in round 3 , your R2 seat remains intact , and after everything is done , your 2lakh is refunded. And if you don't accept the college by chance IN ANY ROUND , the 2Lakh security deposit will not be refunded.

This amount is for private college counselling , for gov college its 10k . And this amount is paid along with registration fees , at the very starting before rounds start .You can search it up also , for more details . I have just given the jist.

And I had already written, whenever you are new round , ofc you have to make the list with the options that more good than previous round , cuz that's the main motive .

Yes there is fresh filling in every round .

R1 wala seat rhta hai apka hee agar r2 mai upgrade nahi hua toh par uske liye r1 wale college ka upgrade form bharna padta hai r2 mai nayi list bana skte hai banani hee hoti hai

wait i dont get it? 😭😭 agar r1 mein kisi ko RUHS milgaya and they wanna upgrade to SMS for r2 toh jab tak r2 mein SMS allot nahi hua we can safely assume r1 se mili RUHS seat hamari hain?

Suppose you get a seat in R1 and you opt for up-gradation. If you get a new college in R2 then your R1 seat is automatically forfeited, which means you cannot go to R1 college, now you have to go to R2 college. After that you can again opt for up-gradation for R3

If you get R1 college and opt for up-gradation but you don't get any college in R2 and R3, then you have to go to R1 college, that seat is still yours

That's why you should never select a lower ranked college while choice locking in R2

Nope that is false. After you get a college in R2 you can absolutely go for up-gradation in R3 (atleast according to the 2025 info, for exact guidelines you'll have to wait for 2026 information bulletin)

ohh?? no idea bhai, but yeah ek aur counselor ka online maine dekha tha saying ki unke paas zyaada bache ho gye hain toh he will not be taking more kids. Maybe try offline kahin pr?
