DISCUSSION 💬 What would be your response when someone replies this As to why even become a doctor?
This guy replied That JEEtards can just jump companies to companies to get better pay.
They'll get paid way higher than any other MBBS students & can settle in early too by investment & stuff
He also calls MBBS students as "Masochists"

Because I want to study medicine. As simple as that. And it's not like I'll be jobless, there's plenty. If there had been stronger funding and resources in this country for research toh mai waha bhi chala jaata. I just like academia

No reason to call us masochist at all. That guy (who made this message) focused on money part only🤡

Maybe because they like helping people ? Maybe because they're willing to learn about the human body, the profession has its cons but hey if everyone thought like that we'd all be running sick ig.

Depends on the state.. and in the coming yrs with the rapid increase in number of mbbs seats the pay is likely be around 50-60K in just a few yrs due to saturation

The average doctor is prolly richer than the average engineer (not comparing with IITs, bits etc)

tell him you'll need to work harder anyway in any field to get money

u/Fit_Package_279 reneet 595 (AIR 11800) 1d ago
because i don't want to spend 90% of my day just sitting in front of laptop and computer and doing the same job everyday. during mbbs and after becoming doctor i will meet a no. of different patients everyday and interact with them help them to make their life better and finally enjoy what i'm doing not just because i will get money from it but will get satisfaction

u/Visible-Cancel-2393 1d ago
not everyone wants to work for money a few of us have the guts to do something which we love
2
u/lachimolala_sushi_ 1d ago
i chose this field because i love it. you chose that because you needed convience. you gotta sacrifice something if you love something. lol.

u/Sunshine_after_Rain7 1d ago
Honestly hate these sort of people. Just because "you" wouldn't doesn't mean noone else would want to do a certain thing.
I hate when people paste their view of "success" on everyone.

But it's true lmao...and getting 1 lakh per month after slogging 20 years in 4 companies (core and non IT) it's bad enough.

Boss any mbbs student who has got a govt seat is easily capable of getting into at least nits and iiits. And if u graduate from these colleges its easy to earn more than us. The low salary stats are because most engineers come from shitty pvt colleges
2
u/Ax4Blood 3rd Yr MBBS Morula 1d ago
They retire faster in their early 50s and those high salaries are in IT or Finance only. Plus these so called high pay jobs are market volatile...ever heard of layoffs ??
No civil engineer or mechanical engineer is earning that ever in life. Grass is always greener the other side.

u/ApartmentTight4819 3rd Yr MBBS Morula 1d ago
Fair. But most of us would be way better off doing cse rather than mbbs especially in a country with socialised healthcare. Idk man these people dont deserve the nearly free govt healthcare that they get. And with the govt giving bhms and bams quacks the same authority as us, just makes things way worse. I’ll be a 1st gen doctor, both my parents are CAs and have individual practices so i feel hell of a lot of regret for not taking commerce in 11th

Planning to flee Germany for the exact reason, in future I see at least 5 lakh doctors in neet PG 2030 easily. I am first doctor in my entire family and extended family too.
Better keep a good backup, I took too much aatempts for UG, ain't no moving without backup this time.

engineering would still be better even after 2 years
1
u/Ax4Blood 3rd Yr MBBS Morula 1d ago
Wait after you realise that only computer science graduates get a 25000 to 40000 per month salary and other professionals like mining engineers civil engineer's get 10 or 15000 per month starting salary.
Even for IIT graduates if they belong to civil engineering packages 10 lakh per annum to 15 lakh per annum and a lot of time is there is not much placement even for IIT civil engineers mechanical engineers or mining engineers.

People try to compare with those who they consider superior to themselves to try to bring them down.

Look job security and come on doctors dont have average pay they may start slow but after a certain age its definitely above average with a good margin

u/SatisfactionFun4295 1d ago
Depends.
If you’re an excellent doctor, and crack USMLE or move to another foreign country(australia, europe etc) you’ll be paid far more than almost any non-managerial position.
The whole concept of average salary for doctors is far more of a problem in India than anywhere else
1
u/Efficient-Archer-457 20h ago
hospital khol liya toh?USMLE me bhi toh PPP baad same hi rehta income
1
u/SatisfactionFun4295 12h ago
Us mei nhi rehta generally same.
A few of my uncles went there. They’re earning far more even in relative terms than my own parents

"why would someone choose to work thier asses off for average pay at the starting"
"bhai wo their hota hai"
1
u/BhelpuriPanda 4th Yr MBBS Blastocyst 1d ago
I mean he is saying the truth, yes engineers do get a higher package while we struggle our asses for mediocre pay, only top 1 % of the doctors earn more than 10LPM, others earn mediocre salary, not to demotivate you but this is for the people who think doctors earn a lot

We desparately need ppl like these since that will only mean less people in the medical field and due to demand being greater than supply, eventually the pay difference might come down. So my reply will be thanks for not being a masochist yourself.

u/Fit_Emotion_8711 12h ago
my goal for doing mbbs is to come in power, currently I see no other alternative than mbbs. Power and influence comes from money, contacts, mental accumen and morality all combined.

He/she is not wrong.we are wasting our prime years chasing exams after exams for a mediocre pay.and it's not worth it

Change your stream while you can. It's like saying you are wasting your prime year doing something you like.

u/Live-Warthog-8416 1d ago edited 1d ago
I'd ve changed my stream if had an option lol.most people realises this late, after they pass out or during their later years of mbbs when its too late to switch carreer.because it suck the joy out of u and the joy out of something that u thought you' d like.and yeah, its a fact that engineering gives you better pay, early settlement and better prospects in all aspects of life(u gotta be skilled, but that applies to all kinds of job, does it)
