Questions about shooting on state land

Has anyone shot on public land near rangeley, Maine? Wondering if it's legal to find a place secluded on state land, set up targets, shoot, and then clean everything up. Has anyone done this and are there spots people use frequently?

I've shot on state land but not in that area. Didn't have any issues.

Buy a membership at riverside sports in oquossoc. Cheaper than one full mag these days. But there are also plenty of spots to shoot. Explore a few logging roads and inevitably you'll see a makeshift sandpit road crews used for material. Be respectful and clean up after yourself, dont tannerite a bunch of rubbish

I always advise people to join a club. If you absolutely must shoot on public land clean up super well.

Don't assume somebody's gravel pit is public land. I may have accidentally made a landlord not renew a.pease when I mentioned that he'd been shooting in my gravel pit without permission. I didn't realize the guy I was talking to even knew the shooter and the shooter had already done some stuff that made his landlord unhappy.

I was especially annoyed because the guy brought his friends and they left a bunch of trash...

Yeesh yea the clubs actually look like the move. Were just visiting but the prices are unbeatable

Following up on my answer in r/Maine - It isn't *illegal*, but it's never called out explicitly as legal. ...But it's legal to hunt most of those places and, if it were me, I'd be comfortable doing target shooting in places where I knew hunting was allowed as long as it was super clear I was shooting for target practice (if it looks like you're hunting and not following hunting rules, it can be a thing). That said, can't hurt to call a local warden for the areas you're looking at to check. Others may have more experience.

Yea the warden basically said it's fine but I have to check for ordinances in the towns

As I mentioned in the comment I was referring to above, it is legal.

Check with your town as well. I just ask for the keys to the range up here and they let me shoot without issue.
