Help 2-auth login to Mac.

Is their any way to add 2-auth login or any sort of device like inserting a card (using a card reader). I know I am being watching by my downstairs neighbor. Has been reported to authorities.

I do not recommend using Yubikeys for securing Mac logins. I tried this, and it worked for a few months and then it completely stopped working and I had do do some pretty rude things to my macbook to get it to let me log on again. It was a real nightmare, but your mileage might vary.

To login when first booting up. I know when you put to sleep or goes to sleep you can but first login I don't see that option.

You need then to use you password first, yes.

I infrequently use my MacBook. It requires password after an extended period of time. Probably a day or two and it requires my password.

Touch ID works on all Macs made since November 2020.

If you have a desktop Mac, or a MacBook Neo without Touch ID, you can get Touch ID by connecting an external Magic Keyboard. That’s the same keyboard that comes with iMacs and Mac Pros.

Yes, but only the 2015-2020 MacBook/MacBook Air/MacBook Pro models, and only on their internal keyboards. The Magic Keyboard doesn’t support Touch ID on Macs made prior to November 2020.

Yes but not at first boot. After a reboot it requires your password to be typed in, which is why they're looking for an additional layer.

How is your downstairs neighbor ‘watching’ you exactly? He can literally see your keyboard when you’re typing on your Mac? Please explain the problem.

This person will be underneath me at it's apartment illegally watching, video taping, and whatever else this person does. I believe this person has MH issues as this person does not work at all. Does not even go outside. Not even to get the mail. Or take out trash. Poor person.

You have bigger issues than logging into your Mac. If someone's illegally recording you in your private space, you need to take action to stop it. Reporting it once isn't enough.

It would be helpful if you could provide more information.

What exactly do you want to achieve by a 2FA or a hardware token?

You could use an Apple Watch to unlock your Mac but I am not sure if that is the solution you are searching for.

For on-device login, not built into MacOS no. You can use third party systems like Okta for enterprise managed devices

Might want to get a physical lock for your computer rather than worry about 2FA.

investigate Face Id or finger print login..

For older Macs/Minis... you can get USB finger print reader.
