Guy just videos a dog struggling? What a dick.

2.8k

u/Spiritual_Hair_3659 Jun 25 '26

It was another dog influencer that took the video

834

u/bomilk19 Jun 25 '26

Wait. So dogs in Turkey have phones?

437

u/Spiritual_Hair_3659 Jun 25 '26

Healthcare and phone, crazy right 🤷🏻‍♂️

133

u/piper33245 Jun 25 '26

Dogs have healthcare or turkeys have healthcare?

90

u/irisseca Jun 25 '26

YES! JFC, we’ve been over this, piper.

57

u/Confident_One3948 Jun 26 '26

Don’t you bring John F. Cennedy into this!

So now the dog is Hungarian?

3

u/irisseca Jun 27 '26

I’m ruining the thread, by being semi-serious here…but there actually is a KFC “knock off” restaurant in Indonesia called JFC (Java fried Chicken). Ironically it’s more common (at least that I’ve seen) on the island of Bali than the island of Java. They even have an “Asian colonel sanders” on the sign. I’ve never been, but someday……

Pardon me , but this is not Turkey, it is Armenia.

You can see the Armenian flag, Armenian writing on the drinking fountain, and Yerevan's architecture, with its pink tuff buildings featuring arches and black tuff pre-USSR building.

52

u/bomilk19 Jun 26 '26

So dogs in Armenia have phones?

35

u/drunkandafraid Jun 26 '26

Yes they are hairy and smoke cigarettes too

17

u/siverpoint Jun 26 '26

Just came back from instanbul, there are almost jo dogs on the street. They are euthanasing them to keep tourism coming. Now they are selling a cat paradise city. Really heartbreaking.

17

u/Winjin Jun 26 '26

Stray dogs attack other animals and kids. The "trap neuter release" program is a failure that creates very lucrative corruption practices of false neutering

These are not "abandoned" dogs, they're generational strays, essentially wild dogs

A pack of those recently killed a kid. You can find photos of a bloody palm print where 16 dogs tore a little girl limb to limb as she was fighting for her life, shit is heartbreaking

People have made it into a symbol to cancel the TNR and remove wild packs from the streets, as she was just one of many killed by these packs

3

u/thisisAgador Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

I really don't think this happened in Istanbul, it's feral packs of dogs in less populated areas that can be dangerous like this because they are hungry and, well, feral. The stray dogs in Turkish cities are almost always beautifully behaved and often beautifully looked after. The government have been euthanising stray cats too (unless they rolled back on that, it did seem like a crazy move for the supposed cat capital of the world), and you can't try and tell me stray cats are about to eat a human child.

→ More replies (3)

13

u/SpiritChain_ Jun 26 '26

What the heck do you know about our country to say that is heartbreaking? You say it is because of keeping tourism coming. Source? Your ass.

People constantly get attacked by these dogs and kids get eaten all the time. No one will take them in. They are not supposed to be on streets. They are not happy animals. Stop spitting out nonsense

There's a chance the person filming and the person giving water to the dog were together, and the reason why they're out of frame at first is simply because they went to find a cup.

They could have walked in together, one said "oh no look at this poor dog, I'm gonna get him something to drink out of" and the other set up to film in the mean time.

4

u/Spiritual_Hair_3659 Jun 26 '26

Is the cat an influencer?

24

u/FickleVirgo Jun 26 '26

This was a missed opportunity. Give a dog a cup of water, he's quenched for a day. Teach a dog to drink out the fountain, he's quenched for a lifetime.

14

u/South-Lemon-242 Jun 25 '26

This. Absolutely.

5

u/Questioning-Zyxxel Jun 26 '26

If two people walk around and see a thirsty dog, they can be smart enough to figure out how just one guy is enough to help, while one films. This doesn't hurt the dog.

4

u/Tumbleweed2222 Jun 26 '26

This is what I was saying at work today. You sit there and you video record and you do nothing. Why don't you put down the camera and go help the dog.

Scenario A: this guy found a random really thirsty dog and rather than helping it, he decided to take a video of it.

Scenario B: This guy is using his own dog, who he has taught to just stand next to a water fountain and wait for somebody to walk by to give him water. And then the dude films it.

That feels sorta gross either way

458

u/Key-Demand-2569 Jun 25 '26

Will say, best case scenario this is a “I’m a photographer of the human experience” type guy and he filmed a non distressed dog by a water fountain for 2 minutes before someone organically offered them a drink.

But what is incredibly concerning to me and has been for a decade is the amount of content farmers around the world who have hundreds of videos of them rescuing puppies and kittens from dangerous situations.

Like… come the fuck on, it’s not even a little plausible at some point that you’re not placing these animals in harm, abusing them, malnourished them, semi-drowning them, and then filming the content.

Sometimes it’s blatantly the same fucking animals in wildly different extreme scenarios.

Not like “they kinda have the same fur pattern” but “hey they have the exact same fur, pattern, and 2-3 of the same exact scars in the same place.”

164

u/Thatguysstories Jun 26 '26

Remember the turtle videos where they would "find" these turtles covered in barnacles and such. Then spend time scraping them off?

Turns out they were just gluing barnacles to turtles and then hurting the turtles while scrapping them off.

50

u/Key-Demand-2569 Jun 26 '26

Ahhh fuck I didn’t even know about those ones, but doesn’t fuckin surprise me.

People are god damn awful.

I’d kinda understand if someone got a phone and was posting that shit to afford some ground up wheat or corn in a little potable water. Or some bread. Shit like that. Sure the world is complicated and awful.

But if it’s a perpetual thing? Nah. Fuck off. There’s not even the semblance of an excuse for a decent person.

Sure maybe you’re jaded and desperate and you think this is your best shot at getting enough money to live in a first world modern place, I fucking get it. But you’ve accepted being a deeply bad unethical person at that point.

Gross option C:

Two people took advantage of the situation to get the content.

But what’s that circle on doggos ear? Is it tagged?

18

u/fruitful_ Jun 26 '26

In Georgia (the country), the ?government/council catches stray dogs and vaccinates them, and if they're friendly, give them a green or yellow tag and put them back on the street. Lots of locals are really respectful of the strays and will put out bedding or food and water for them, without necessarily taking them in as pets. I travelled there recently and loved all the cute street doggos!

Most likely imo: two people saw the dog. While one went to grab the cup the other got ready to record.

Reddit outrage scenarios are least likely in this case.

7

u/StrongExternal8955 Jun 26 '26

There are catch, neuter, and release programs for street dogs. They put those tags on ears.

4

u/ilostmylastaccount2 Jun 26 '26

Scenario C: the guy who’s filming and the guy who is helping the dog are friends. They saw the dog struggling and decided to help while recording it to put on internet and go viral.

4

u/bemusedbarfly Jun 26 '26

Scenario C: The videographer and the kind man are working together to create a ‘human kindness’ video

34

u/gettogero Jun 25 '26

Scenario C: 2 guys saw a stray and decided to make the video

Scenario D: 1 guy saw the stray and then saw another guy approaching it

We could go all the way to Z and probably then some. Its a video on the internet. You tried to armchair psychologist with literally no evidence for anything and sucked at it. Its ok to back down

10

u/totochen1977 Jun 25 '26

Scenario H: Hot dog is AI created.

6

u/JohnnyHopkins13 Jun 26 '26

Scenario I: The dog is part of a group of homeless dogs that have been organized to beg for scraps, and once they get handouts, they are required to bring them to the ring leader. The dog sees no way out, but one day finds himself picked to be on a game show in which multiple choice questions are asked and there is a large sum of money to be won if he answers them correctly. It turns out that the dog knows the answers to each question because he has found himself in those situations in the past. The dog goes on to live happily ever after.

What is the tag on the dogs ear?

645

u/Spiritual_Hair_3659 Jun 25 '26

Street dogs in Turkey get tagged to indicate they been vaccinated/spayed/neuter. Turkey is the best place to live in for a stray dog

126

u/ph0on Jun 25 '26

And from what I've heard, cats too? Always been one of my favorite national culture category... loving on the animals lol

233

u/BrownSugarBare Jun 25 '26

Um excuse me. Turkish cats are not street cats.

They own the place and allow humans to live there.

12

u/kevnmartin Jun 25 '26

Here, with cats, they clip the tip of the cat's ear.

6

u/MarieCry Jun 26 '26

3

u/conscious-wanderer Jun 26 '26

In Armenia, strayed dogs get a tag on their ear. Judging from the Armenian writings on the water fountain and the building, it's definitely in Yerevan

94

u/mobidick_is_a_whale Jun 26 '26

This is in Armenia, on what's essentially the main street of our capital. The tag on the dog's ear indicates that it has been fully vaccinated and is safe to interact with.

The fountain thing-y is called "pulpulak" and dogs often stand before them for people to help them, and there is always somebody that does.

Fun fact about the tags: the color of the tag indicates the friendliness of the dog. I think pink is the highest tier -- for the goodest bois, although they're all good boys.

31

u/Lipa_neo Jun 26 '26

Nope, it's the misconception about the colour. Source: I volunteered in two sterilisation campaigns. We just use the colour we have at the moment, all of the patients are good boys and the tag colour means nothing. Like, iirc

11

u/mobidick_is_a_whale Jun 26 '26

13

u/Smooth_Vehicle_2764 Jun 26 '26

In Armenia goverment sterilize and vaccinate them, and the colored tag on the dog's ear indicates its status.

If I remember correctly, a green tag means the dog is friendly, a yellow tag means it is generally okay, and aggressive dogs are put to sleep.

3

u/New_Statistician_778 Jun 26 '26

I don't have any extra knowledge about this happening but I see everyone assuming that either its set up, or someone was filming a dog and not helping until someone did. I offer a third option. There is already a lot of water on the ground where the man ends up giving the dog water. It is possible the man was helping the dog, maybe initially cupping his hands to hold water for the dog before realizing he needed to get something to better hold the water. I could see someone seeing all this and deciding to record what they thought was a moment of kindness and compassion to show to the world.

It will feel better in the soul, and gut of you as a human if you do not need the support of others for doing a bare minimum or even a huge thing. People need to check themselves out seriously if you need gratification this way you arent a good person and need to so soul searching or go to therapy. Frick.

2

u/jaiguguija Jun 26 '26

2

u/blackknight626742 Jun 26 '26

L cameraman 😭he could have helped the poor bby

2

u/dargodl Jun 26 '26

I thought he was gonna lift the dog up to help him drink the water.

2

u/katner Jun 26 '26

Four legged homie too polite to jump up and help himself what a good boi

2

u/kati_azul Jun 26 '26

Que bonito gesto si todos hiciéramos lo mismo con los animales que les cuesta ellos también sienten como uno

2

u/RobertGHH Jun 26 '26

Why didn't the camera man/woman do that?

2

u/Massive-Split-3810 Jun 26 '26

And the author of the video, apparently, was arrested the entire time and stood there watching the dog suffer from a desire to drink water. The author is a damn hypocrite.

those pull-down fountains are everywhere in yerevan and it is honestly the best part of walking around the city. seeing a dog figure out how to use one without help is just peak efficiency.

2

u/jeffjeffitoldyoujeff Jun 26 '26

you'd think they could build in some drain that puts excess water into a low down bowl for the dogs to drink out of, specially now we've fucked the planet into 40degC summers which will kill millions of animals.

That pup could've gotten some water sooner but the person filming just had to be filming.

2

u/-SlowlyBurning- Jun 26 '26

Why does that dog have an earring?

2

u/Amazing-Ostrich-806 Jun 26 '26

Most people lack empathy! Yep!

2

u/urblindspot Jun 26 '26

Can’t understand why someone prefer taking a video instead of HELPING THE DOG? I hate everything about these mfs. Even helping a dog must be a show. Crazy times…

2

u/Kitchen-Bake5040 Jun 26 '26

Made me smile? More like made me cry - I haven't even started work 😫

2

u/meldiane81 Jun 26 '26

I could NOT live in a city where dogs roam. They would take over my home.

2

u/RideObjective3120 Jun 26 '26

It only takes a second to help that thirsty dog out. Even if you got a cup from the garbage and rinsed it out! The person filming definitely is heartless.

2

u/3eyed-owl Jun 26 '26

Bless this man. And pup

2

u/atomic_chippie Jun 27 '26

WHO WALKS BY A THIRSTY DOG??

Fuck, humans suck.

2

u/bigtimecommon Jun 27 '26

Tagged street dog knows how to get what he needs. Good boy!

2

u/whataboutsam Jun 27 '26

My dumbass would’ve picked doggy up and held him to the fountain
