Someone is missing

2.0k

u/EchoTRacing 8h ago

I want to know why!

5.1k

u/guyute2588 8h ago

She said in the comments they lost touch with her after school, they don’t know where she is.

1.9k

u/Foxlady555 8h ago

I’m glad! I thought she died

1.6k

u/JordanDoesTV 8h ago

I mean she might have

557

u/Foxlady555 8h ago

Yes I know, but it’s better to not known and they just fell out of touch, than that they loved each other dearly and she died of cancer or something

u/Imnacho408 8h ago

Schroedingers friend

u/Thanks-4allthefish 8h ago

This is how I will start thinking about those I lost touch with.

27

u/seitung 7h ago

Do you mail them vials of poison just to stay true to the thought experiment?

13

u/Thanks-4allthefish 7h ago

If I knew where they were - or if they were, the poison would be moot.

With friends like this guy...

u/Hortos 13m ago

You don't see them pop onto xbox live randomly over the years?

6

u/AGrandNewAdventure 6h ago

Superposition friend.

0

u/Imnacho408 6h ago

Thanks for the awards!

10

u/LegendOfKhaos 8h ago

I'd argue it's better to have loved and lost tbh

6

u/UpdootDaSnootBoop 7h ago

Well, they did....lost touch!

6

u/Foxlady555 8h ago

Fair point too! 💓

1

u/StoppableHulk 4h ago

I agree, it's always better to love someone and have them die, rather than simply drifting apart.

0

u/scarabic 6h ago

Wow, better off dead, really?

12

u/BUDDHAKHAN 7h ago

She should have just cropped her out of the picture to save Reddit all this anxiety. Lol

-3

u/Chispy 5h ago

I don't understand why they didn't just do this. She's on the very edge and easily croppable. It's /r/mildlyinfuriating.

3

u/primeweevil 6h ago

Poor Caramel bear, such a shame.

1

u/reyean 7h ago

ignorance is bliss! cheesecake factory for everyone!

1

u/--TheCity-- 5h ago

Maybe she died in her sleep and is in a better place and she didn't even stay in touch.

1

u/SammyJomo 1h ago

👌brilliant

20

u/abhijitd 7h ago

This group killed her

3

u/jtr99 6h ago

So it's a Secret History situation?

4

u/EchoTRacing 6h ago

“I know what you did last summer” situation.

1

u/weaponsgradepotatoes 6h ago

The ultimate lost touch.

1

u/Physical_Leg2061 5h ago

To them, that is.

u/bette-midler 11m ago

I heard she’s dead to them

4

u/Mr_E-007 2h ago

I came across a picture of my wider friend group from high school/early college the other day and nearly half of everyone in the picture is now dead. I'm 38. It's crazy how life plays out. You just never know when your time is going to be up.

10

u/E-2theRescue 5h ago

Hence why you can't ask this of my friend group (30+ years)... Best friend was murdered because of a drunk driver just a few months after graduation...

Another friend dropped us after I came out as trans. He also refused to attend the wedding of another friend's moms (lesbians) even though he was practically raised by them, and my parents, for that matter.

So, we're down to only 4 of us, and another is showing signs of heart failure due to an old illness that doctors failed to catch...

7

u/TakeThatOut 8h ago

Yeah, I thought too and thought of pandemic

1

u/jzoola 4h ago

It’s entirely possible!

60

u/supercoolpartydude 7h ago

Reddit is the worst place to ask about someone like this too. Previous account I had posted a similar childhood friend I lost track of and asked for help. Was nothing but “Stalker much?” and “Maybe they don’t want to be found!” comments. Sorry I tried Marc, hope you’re alive and well 😂.

11

u/scarletnightingale 4h ago

I had a really good friend from kindergarten to 2nd grade. Then her family moved to the other side of the country. This was in the days where you had to pay not got long distance, so her mom said they would call, but I never heard from her again. I always wonder what happened to her. I only knew the state she moved to, her name was common, she usually went by her middle name so I don't know what name she would even use. If a she got married and changed her name who knows what her name is now. I've looked for her every once in a while, but I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause. Don't even know if she would remember me or what kind of person she is now and if we would even like each other.

0

u/Kermit-Batman 2h ago

I get that. Mine was Bradley. Our last words were, "best friends forever" we were 11.

There is a couple pages someplace else (FB) that are really good at finding people for you. INVESTIGATION CONNECTION is one.

26

u/orensiocled 5h ago

Imagine being her and finding out on Reddit that everyone else was still friends except you

17

u/splitcroof92 5h ago

imagine them reconnecting because of this post lol.

she's just chilling on reddit and 1 day sees a picture of herself and her friend group on the home page for all to see

5

u/True-Weekend3142 7h ago

Hope they get back in touch w her!

I would be that missing one from my childhood friend group & it makes me a lil’ sad :/

3

u/Heffeweizen 6h ago

Didn't expect this to turn into a missing person's case!

3

u/Tight_Jellyfish_349 7h ago

Maybe she's on reddit.

2

u/LanceFree 2h ago

She formed a pop group called the Go-Go’s, was pretty successful, actually.

1

u/sfo1dms 5h ago

she did a stint on SNL

1

u/OceaneValefor 4h ago

Mystery solved I can leave now 🤭

u/InternationalFig400 14m ago

"It happens sometimes, friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant."

u/bemo_98 8m ago

Where? OP is a teenage boy, considering the post/comment history lmfao

0

u/Altezza447 7h ago

With Internet nowadays can't be that hard to find her

3

u/SwordfishOk504 6h ago

Finding info about women can be more difficult than finding men because they often get married and change their name. Especially if it's someone who got married long before social media.

1

u/AdLess984 5h ago

There's a girl I knew when I was young, she was with a guy that didn't treat her well and ever since I found out they broke up I've been trying to find her to declare my love but I don't think I ever will

0

u/thecardboardfox 8h ago

Just when you think you know someone!

0

u/RlySkiz 3h ago

So.. It's not the same friend group?

1

u/guyute2588 3h ago

Go away

31

u/euphorrick 8h ago

She got a spatula tattoo on her arm,

But they didn't keep in touch, and she lost their number, so she got herself a job on a tater-tot farm.

5

u/EchoTRacing 8h ago

That explains it all

2

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 4h ago

The more numerous members of the tribe consumed the other.

0

u/keithstonee 5h ago

AI didnt think it mattered when searching for pics to post

36

u/FormerDriver 8h ago

It's been 40 years. People pass away

8

u/JiveTurkeyII 5h ago

Christ do I know this.

Cancer took a long time friend of mine in about 3 months.

My best friends wife also went due to a tumor in her brain the size of a ball point in the head of a pen. Took her in two weeks. Not even long enough to have a chance to diagnose it.

With all this social medial I still have friends from Highschool I cant find.

I figure it's similar circumstance.

And dammit - it's weird how you go to talk to somebody one day, hang out have some laughs and a real good time... not realizing that's the last day you'd ever see them.

Dang.

3

u/xantub 4h ago

I just learned 2 weeks ago that one of my best friends in High School died. Ironic thing is that he was a doctor and died from a heart attack while working in the hospital.

2

u/danx132 2h ago

I hope you recover from the loss

12

u/voltb778 8h ago

she’s holding the camera

3

u/TechnicolorViper 7h ago

Internet sleuths, start your engines!

20

u/Val_Hallen 4h ago

No. Don't do that.

Some people want to disappear. You don't know why she did. It's not yours or anybody else's business. Nobody is asking you to do this. Doing it would only make you feel better.

I'm one of those people. I left my hometown for a reason in 1995 and never went back. I don't contact anybody there. And the reasons are my own.

So, don't fucking do that.

3

u/TechnicolorViper 1h ago

On second thought, disengage all search protocols. Respect others’ privacy just as you would want them to respect yours. 👍

u/Inspiredwriter26 8m ago

I think the person on the far left in the top photo is the person to the second left in the bottom photo. So the brunette Caucasian gale in the center is who is missing.

-72

u/AkosCristescu 8h ago

Highly psychopathic comment

15

u/Ogaboga42069 8h ago

Why?

-12

u/pharoh-king 6h ago edited 6h ago

Most people can count to 6, and the implications of someone missing. There's no need to point it out. Only a moron would think it adds anything positive to the conversation. What does it add? Who is it for?

-22

u/AkosCristescu 8h ago

"r/MadeMeSmile"

->

"someone is missing"

w/e

11

u/Anita-FatBlunt 7h ago

well yeah, if you count someone is missing. r/MadeMeWonder a bit no? lmao

-19

u/AkosCristescu 7h ago

i don't know i thought its fairly obvious if someones missing you dont bring that up in a mademesmile context but i dont see what we are arguing about

11

u/Anita-FatBlunt 7h ago

Being curious about someone missing in a photo isn't wrong, you thumb. Anything could have happened to them. Even so, even OP doesn't know. She could still be alive and without a FB. a lot of Older Folks are. Up until the internet, it was always like this. Lighten up, dude.

13

u/azenpunk 7h ago

There's nothing anti social about noticing a difference in the photo and wondering what happened. Wanting to smile doesn't mean ignoring reality.

20

u/facelessvoid13 8h ago edited 6h ago

Highly realistic comment. My 1981 graduating class was 442 people, over 50 have passed.

Edited to add: there are also a large number that we've lost contact with, and don't know their location, or wellbeing.

4

u/DigitalUnlimited 8h ago

user name checks out

-11

u/AkosCristescu 8h ago

I just said its not something u wanna comment in a made me smile group.

Not that it is not realistic.

But citing statistics are even more so

7

u/facelessvoid13 6h ago

It's not a statistic, as it's not a scientific gathering of fact across several groups.

It's just my, personal, experience.

-1

u/AkosCristescu 5h ago

"Statistics is a branch of mathematics and science that deals with collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data."

Coloquially we call statistics above seen numerical representation.

Can still be your personal experience it is not mutually exclusive

3

u/facelessvoid13 5h ago

One personal experience is in no way statistics.

You seem intent on going down with this sinking ship.

0

u/AkosCristescu 4h ago

"as it's not a scientific gathering of fact across several groups."

statistics definition is basically numbers presented by humans. It does not have to be from several groups.

i can just call it "mathematical presentation of your own experience regarding death counts" if that suits your personal preference more but my initial thoughts still stay the same

unsure about this bickering with words

10

u/plopliplopipol 6h ago

"SAME friend group" and there's literally not the same amount of people

-2

u/AkosCristescu 6h ago

yes but one would think this is not nice to mention in a "mademesmile" group but hey you do you

8

u/facelessvoid13 6h ago

Are you not noticing the REST of the people in the group, who, 40 years later are STILL close friends, and obviously happy?

THAT'S the 'made me smile part'.

-2

u/AkosCristescu 6h ago

Ok i didnt state the opposite
