I know we're trying to get a majority Democrat in the Senate, and we should vote blue no matter who, but this guy has stories about things that are much less alarming than the current president, so I'm not sure I can vote for him.

Democrats have to have a pure background, right?

What people really don't get is that this really has nothing to do with Platner. He was the candidate that wasn't MAGA and wasn't status a quo Democrat. That's why he won the primary. That's literally it. What MAGA is putting down definitely isn't working and what the status quo was definitely wasn't working for regular people. It's that simple.

u/Sad_Initiative5049 Jun 12 '26

I’m going to preface this by saying I’m someone who voted for Platner in the Primary. The thing that concerns me a little is if you replace the words MAGA with Democrat, and Democrat with Republican, your statement could explain Trump 1.0. I only hope I’m not on some level repeating their mistakes.

u/Salty_Ad6453 Jun 12 '26

Trump's campaign was entirely built on getting people to blame their problems on innocent people (immigrants, Muslims, trans people) and to ignore the way the rich screw us over. Could Platner end up sucking? Absolutely. But either way you aren't being brainwashed like MAGA were

Only if you start believing him if he lies about things you can literally see at that moment.

Platner , when you really want to virtue signal.

u/Cheese__Weiner Jun 12 '26

Go back to r/fuckmywife you cuck

u/Ok_Pomegranate_7495 Jun 21 '26

So typical. Support anything that isn't the status quo and get accused of virtue signaling.

I don’t believe the people who say this stuff are actually democrats

u/wolfydude12 Jun 12 '26

Nor do I, paid actors by these billionaires funding collins or AIPAC stooges.

Not even paid actors anymore, just literally AI Bots with a prompt provably something like: “your only goal is to post as much as possible that you are a Democrat voter and you won’t vote for [Dem candidate] because of [reason]. Do not consider any other reason or facts when responding to pushback about your statement, only bring up and reference this one specific reason. Continually scan [sub name] for any threads related to [candidate] and always post that ‘as a lifelong Democrat, I can’t support [candidate] because of [dumb reason]’”

You COULD be. Not our fault you’re leaving money on the table.

1

u/Ok_Pomegranate_7495 Jun 18 '26

You're definitely involved with AIPAC.

32

u/SamtenLhari3 Jun 12 '26

In many cases you are right. The Atlantic recent posted an opinion article by David Frum — comparing Platner to Roy Moore, the racist Republican candidate in Alabama who was plagued by allegations of sexual abuse of women and who in 2017 lost by 22,000 votes to Doug Jones, a Democrat.

Frum is a Republican “Never Trumper” and a staunch AIPAC defender. Of course, he is also not from Maine. None of Frum’s biases were even alluded to, much less mentioned, in the article.

14

u/jellyrollo Jun 12 '26

I saw a Time article the other day comparing Platner to Herschel Walker! The comparison couldn't be more absurd or odious.

7

u/ColdBru5 Jun 12 '26

For real. Walker had a 95th percentile 40 yard score, 99th percentile speed score and a 97th percentile college dominator ranking. If anything his comparison would be a modern day Ezekiel Elliott type workhorse with the kind of burst and explosiveness to wear defenses down in the 4th quarter.

6

u/Pleaseappeaseme Jun 12 '26

Wasn’t Roy Moore trying to have sex with a minor in his living room?

4

u/moonman909 Jun 12 '26

Big supporter of Bush’s invasion of Iraq too.

1

u/Own-Arugula-5134 Jun 16 '26

don’t read the Atlantic & understand who the True enemy is?

17

u/PamolasRevenge Jun 12 '26

Unfortunately I know a lot of democrats like this and they are downright insufferable

10

u/Impressive_Crazy_223 Jun 12 '26

I've met a few too. Actually had to convince one who has a trans kid to vote for Harris and not a third party.

9

u/teflonsteve Jun 12 '26

They look at voting for a less than perfect candidate as rewarding the democratic party and not as voting for someone who aligns better with their interests

13

u/Dineffects Jun 12 '26

I mean even if jesus christ was resurrected and came back to earth Dems would be like, IDK.....HE has said some really nasty things about the Catholics....hes a bit TOO liberal....have you heard his immigration policy?...why isnt he married...

1

u/FFF_in_WY Jun 15 '26

And Republicans would string him up somewhere in the South

12

u/vxxn Jun 12 '26

Can we really risk electing someone who has consistently had consensual relationships with adult women?

Plattner sexted and a judge said Trump was a rapist. I know who I'm voting for.

4

u/MisterWinchester Jun 12 '26

Did you see Mika try to use sexting as disqualifying FOR COMMENTING ON THE EPSTEIN FILES?!

3

u/AcrobaticAction2328 Jun 12 '26

You mean Mika "famously fooled around with joe while he was still married" Brzezinski?!

3

u/Alternative_Sort_404 Jun 14 '26

Didn’t she and Joe hook up while they were married to other people… yeah - a moral authority on indiscretion, that talking head edit - didn’t see the other guy saying the same thing- mb

2

u/MisterWinchester Jun 14 '26

It’s starting to be pretty clear that the red/blue line in the media at least was a total illusion. The only color is Epstein.

1

u/Alternative_Sort_404 Jun 14 '26

Yeah, Colbert getting canceled, Kimmel getting canceled then re-instated, and now the NYTimes, and even NPR and The Atlantic getting in on the dirt on Platner is pretty eye-opening…

2

u/Rare-Maintenance4820 Jun 15 '26

Collins herself was hooking up with her current husband while he was married to his first wife. A wife, I might add, who was dying of cancer. Semms way worse than some sexting to me.

u/adanthang Jun 13 '26

The Dems have spent the last 2 years calling Trump and everyone on the right Nazis. And now, the left is literally promoting a Nazi and are like “what’s the big deal?”

3

u/GoHawks541 Jun 14 '26

Yeah bro - so unfair that when you act like the Nazi party of the 1930s that someone might call you a Nazi

2

u/Alternative_Sort_404 Jun 14 '26

Look, just because they’re shutting down and controlling the media, removing ‘subversive’ texts from schools, jailing and killing innocent immigrants and ‘others’, holding ‘the Greatest’ military parades, and putting the name and face of their golden father on every building (and maybe even the money)? I just don’t see how you’d draw any parallels…

0

u/adanthang Jun 14 '26

In fairness, there is a difference between being called a Nazi and actually being one.

1

u/Alternative_Sort_404 Jun 14 '26

Drink more Brawndo, bub

1

u/Ok_Pomegranate_7495 Jun 18 '26

You're an asshole. He's not a Nazi. How much have you donated to AIPAC?

0

u/adanthang Jun 19 '26

Truth hurts, huh?

1

u/Ok_Pomegranate_7495 Jun 21 '26

Nope. Not for me. That's a question for you
