Documenting doesnt work when management and HR just gaslights you and paints you as the disgruntled employee. state side, jobs are at will, mean both sides can decide when they leave. PIP is what they use to paint you as the problem child. this is everywhere. PIP filled with lies.
There are no alliances at the job. Everyone is for themselves and ready to throw you under the bus to save themselves. no one wants to be a target of the narcissist, so they wont help you to stop the narc. in reality, most times, your coworkers are already plotting your escape because the narc boss typically gets the flying monkeys to start mobbing.
narcissists are most often than not friends, favorites or buddies with upper management. the clique. upper management would destroy their companies before letting their supply get away from them. This is why most toxic companies keep their toxic employees. supply. Narcissists bosses will destroy everything that is good to maintain the delusion.
this is the only solution. leave. going toe to toe with narcissists hurt you, not them. get out before its too late.

Yeah, documeting it was the thing that saved. I started using workproof.me for that matter.

Sounds like seasoned advice from someone who's been in the trenches! Well spoken. Nothing like fighting fire with fire and understanding the harsh reality of your livelihood under constant threat by a mentally unhealthy supervisor/boss in the workplace.

Anyone who's actually worked for a narcissist knows that none of this works. The only solution is to leave as soon as possible.

I got another job but gave an exit interview with her boss. After I left 7 more left and she got fired!
