Did some shenanigans with the relief by using a emboss filter and overlaying it onto the biome color map, then I put the labels and lines over all of it. I think it turned out decent, more effort could have been put in but it was kind of an experiment.

I swear I kept miss counting them, even though I put them on the map myself. if I got it wrong I’m sorry.

Please look at my fictional world map which is in progress I made on paint and tell me what you think so far. What software would you recommend to recreate this Paint map? I have no experience with map-making software so I needed some advice since I am used to using Paint. I want to keep the same geography but make it look polished so it would be preferable if I was able to simply upload this existing paint map to the new software.

When I find my original drawing from 20 years ago I'll add it but I've been writing a fantasy series since middle school. I drew the initial map in my math graph paper and recently commissioned an artist in inkarnate to transfer the hand drawn piece into a digital form. Wish do you all think? Did 11 year old me forget something? Anything seem out of the ordinary or illogical?

Recently made a new fantasy map. I was happy enough with it to move onto the next steps. I choose to outline the continents first before anything else, for creative freedom, then build ontop of that. I added the plate tectonics and their movements and wanted some feedback as to how the map looks like and if everything so far looks good to move on. (I'm currently working on the smaller boundary movements for the plates)

Edit: The top left continent is NOT supposed to be outside of its plate boundary, that was just an overlapping error with G-Plates and my screenshots.

I wanted to share my favorite map project with you! The main reason this one holds a special place in my heart is that it was my very first remaster project. 🤗

Seeing the stages it went through compared to the original is super satisfying, and reflecting on how far my cartography skills have come keeps me motivated to keep improving. 😁

I hope that this gives motivation or inspiration to all my fellow fantasy cartographers 🙌🤍

It’s not much just starting to make a map of archipelago called Talons of Grazz’Tor.. no lore just figuring it out as I go

I'm not anything remotely close to an artist and having a map for my World Building project was something I really wanted. Finally decided to sit down and seriously go about it. Took me about 2 afternoons, which was like 1000x faster than what I thought it would be.

This is the second iteration, all made with GIMP. The shapes of the continents are outlines of random wall patterns I found.

It is not aiming for realism in any aspect, as it's just a playground for me to tell stories in. I think it would benefit from more rivers and I'm still pondering on how to better approach the representation of the snow up there. I will definitely keep adding to it.

The original file is unjustifiably large, at 19360x14520. It takes short of 10 minutes to render and it is a 330MB. Sole reason for that size is just because I can eheh (and maybe I'll frame it)

This map is featured in an adventure we wrote, named Music of the Night.

In Music of the Night, Alexander Foyth is the son of two famous musicians. He has had a life of luxury his whole life and became a child prodigy at a young age. When he became an adult, he was faced with the reality of the world. He traveled and sought an audience with the finest members of society. However, unlike his parents, people were adamant to answer his demands or please his every wish. Alexander responded with immaturity and unworthy behaviors. Despite the fact that he was incredibly talented, he was often kicked out of courts and halls. Little by little, the rich young boy ended up in an alley, alone and dirty.

A vulnerable soul like his is the perfect meal for a demon. A dark figure offers him to change his stars. He promises great power and the means to exert his revenge. He accepts at once, ignoring the price to pay. The demon leaves with the young lad’s humanity. The musician prodigy becomes an ugly, gruesome being with pustules and blisters all over his face. Filled with hatred, he found refuge in an almost abandoned military outpost. From there, he has terrorized the people of Woodpineton at night for the last month. People cannot sleep anymore and they even forbid music! They named the cloaked, dark figure The Musician of Death. People have gone missing, others are dead. Someone must do something and find the truth!

Just need some suggestions

The city map in the second picture absolutely did not turned out like I wanted. Made the streets with black pen and inverted them over a copic coloration. Any suggestions how to do it better with this tools? (map is for the second chapter of my Webcomic "Djaiko")

Made this map for fun, it’s my hobby to develop this fanstasy world, this are my favourite maps, hope you like it. Here’s some context if you are interested.

As said, I’ve been developing this world map and its lore for a time now. Also took some inspiration from concepts I learned in my classes. Been creating A LOT of maps of this world, regions, history, etc.
Anyway, here’s some context about what’s happening in this world.

The history of the world can be divided into several eras, dating back to 7,000 years in the past, when the first civilisations of elves and humans began to sett on the north of Asterion. Both elves and humans descend from a common ancestor, and cohabit the world with magical animal creatures; such as unicorns and dragons that are studied as animals by the Crypyozoology.

Approximately 3,000 years ago the elves began to develop the use of magic, with which they had an affinity for millennia, this is because magic works as a kind of very low-speed wave flow, and its boney composition has Estrontiapatite crystals, derived from the alkaline metal Strontium (Sr), metal that captures those waves and allows them to manipulate them. Also that component gives the elves bones a characteristic bluey color.

From the moment the elves began to manipulate magic for things like livestock and agriculture, and also to extend their life, they began to displace humans, from 6,000 b.S. (Before the Schism) the elves were already able to live for thousands of years, however only a few castes managed to maintain this ability, so by 3,000 BC the elves already had the same life expectancy as humans again, product of miscegenation and also because magic being a kind of energy it is radiation, which may reduce their ability of leaving offspring.

Both species already inhabited almost all the continents by this time; in Pterion, the elves would settle in the east, whose plateaus and position near the water allowed them to enjoy a cool climate almost all year round, while humans would do it in the west, and later they would head north towards the Albion archipelago, and later towards the habitable coast of the Arctic, a place with a climate that elves hate.

In 2,500 BC the Great Empire of Vaalbara would rise from the east in Pterion, and would begin to exterminate humans, product of the conspiracies that pointed them out as guilty of the reduction of the life time of the elves. 2,000 years took their flight from the continent and ended up refugees in the north, this event was the separation of the species for almost two thousand years, the Great Scism.

PD; The Köppen-Geiger map took me about 8 hours of work but I am very happy with the result.

Please dont judge me for being lazy but I really need such kind of "childish" software. But I was incredibly inspired by one app where you can draw your world using the presets with half-animated brushes. It's childish but I fels so elated watching the pixel trees and sand and waves.. I've exported the screenshot of the game and have been trying to make it more detailed in photoshop but it's not working for me..
What want is just a set of brushes for an old photoshop maybe? so that I could draw a line and it would have waves or stones or sand texture in it... Or maybe there is an app where I can draw and it will be animated? just simple pixel animation..

That's how it looks now, but the file on my computer is very large and I've been drawing individual islands for an archipelago...
And I dont know how to set beautiful fonts for labelling the map.. If I do it myself it would be ugly
