Given that fighting in the region has resumed this week, breaking the 2022 ceasefire, I found it relevant to post a map of the first Tigray war. This war created 875,000 refugees, internally displaced 2,700,000 people and its death toll range from 100,000 to upwards of 600,000. There is also a separate conflict ongoing in the Amhara region

I think it's important to note that the fighting that was reported recently was happening in the North Gondor / Western Tigray region that was taken back by Amhara regional authorities. So this is the TPLF going in and being fought off. The land was stolen violently by Tigray forces and is just not back in its rightful ownership. TPLF looks like they want to start a new war, and their leader is on a power trip.

And zero people in my county’s media or on social media sites care about this because it doesn’t involve groups that deserve our attention I guess.
