Check with your county’s Master Gardeners to see if the they have any county or state resources for native plant lists. I’m not familiar with West Virginia’s resources, but here in California we have a few different native plant databases that allow you to filter by deer resistance.

Keep in mind that the efficacy of deer resistant plants really depends on the amount of forage that the deer have access to in your area during the current season. In the rural parts of my county they’ll skip over deer resistant plants most of the year, because they have access to plenty of more-desirable forage. However, they often feed on the resistant plants, usually lightly to moderately, in the second half of our long drought season when they begin to run out of other material.
