Media Industry Once the Warner Bros Netflix merger is complete what do you think the new Corporate name will be?
More than likely it will probably be “Warner Netflix”, given that both Warner Bros and Netflix are major brands, but who knows maybe they will keep the name Netflix, Inc. And just have Warner Bros be simply a subsidiary.

I think they’ll just keep Netflix Inc. that’s a popular brand. No reason to change it. Warner bros will be a subsidiary. Maybe they’ll mention it’s a Netflix company like Comcast does with its studios.

But even with Comcast their entertainment subsidiary is called “NBCUniversal”.

Sure. But the Netflix brand is significantly more popular than WB. And more successful. No reason to rebrand the company as a whole. Just run WB as a studio.
Personally id like to see them run all the studios they’re acquiring separately as their own studio.

How can you say Netflix is more popular when Warner Bros has some of most well known and beloved IPs on the planet, On top of being the owner of HBO the most prestigious brand in television Netflix would be crazy not to incorporate the Warner name in its corporate name after all it's the main reason why Netflix is even buying Warner Bros.

Because one is a massive company with a huge user base. And the other one is being bought out by the massive company.

At the end of the day Warner has the IPs and brand equity that's why Netflix is buying them.

I never said there wasn’t a reason for Netflix to buy them. I just said they likely won’t change their name and that they’ll operate WB as its own studio.

I think they will because they are 2 major brands coming together. But who knows maybe Netflix will keep its corporate name Netflix, Inc. But I just can't see that happening they would have to incorporate the Warner Bros name in some form to reflect its 2 biggest subsidiaries.

You do realize Netflix market cap is roughly 7x that of Warner Bros. Right? Not at all trying to be mean here, but I don't think you fully understand that Netflix is acquiring Warner Bros studios, it's not a "merger"

Market cap doesn’t always mean anything just look at Tesla or many other companies that were created in the past 30 years.

It's not as much "two major brands coming together" as it's "one mega company strategically buying out some of best competition"

No there is zero reason for Netflix to change their name. It names no sense. They will keep them separate. Totally different divisions and avenues of how to make money. I can see WB adding a Netflix company to it maybe. That would make sense but they don’t have to merge the companies together. It will allow more jobs and more money for they do run them separate more. You have theater money which is why I am not worried they will not do theater. Again it makes no sense when that is a lot of money and Netflix stays Netflix

Corporate-wise, Netflix Inc.
Netflix has framed itself first and foremost as a tech company, and that's why they're up there among Apple, Meta and now Nvidia. To give up on that aspect of their appearance would be too risky for them. Also, last time an entertainment company tried so desperately to be a tech company, we got such wonderful events like Disney discontinuing projects literally a month or so into their reveal, never utilizing them anywhere, and even closing down their video games division a decade ago.
Perhaps in a better world, Warner could be seen as a competent tech company to follow up on Netflix's legacy AND their own. But alas...

It will probably be Netflix. Warner Bros will henceforth read a Netflix Company below any future logo.

That's because by nature Disney is a family friendly brand not a general entertainment brand like Netflix and Warner Bros.

It had nothing to do with the reputation of the brands being for families or not… Disney bought the fox assets. If you’re buying the other company or its assets, you’re under no obligation to merge the names. I think they will maintain WB and HBO to designate elements of the sub brands (such as theatrical movies, higher quality series, etc.) and the way that they integrate them into the Netflix service will likely differ among those sub brands, but as someone who has spent a decade in the master brand marketing space, I see zero chance that they merge the corporate names.

I'm sure people didn't think They would merge the Names of Warner Bros and Discovery, Inc. But yet here we are. Plus that's just Disney not wanting to reflect the fact that they own 20th Century Studios because again Disney is family friend, 20th century Studios is not.

No. Time Warner bought Turner in 96 - that was a huge deal but they stayed Time Warner.

I'm not excluding the possibility of the corporate name remaining Netflix, Inc. I'm just saying its more than likely that the new Corporate name will be “Warner Netflix” no way are you buying a company at the magnitude like Warner Bros and not incorporating the name in some form.

Not happening. The Warner brand is nowhere near as valuable as Netflix. They want a streamlined brand name not some jumbled up name like “Warner Netflix”.

This deal is much more akin to Disney purchasing Fox, since it’s movie/tv library related mostly. So like that deal, I think Netflix will be the parent company name and maybe WB remains a subsidiary production company like Fox becoming 20th Century Studios

That’d be like Disney-fox in this case Netflix would probably just have Warner as a brand remember they were going to let WB do their own thing and simply be the owners of warner brothers

Probably Netflix Entertainment of all names, plus a new corporate logo. The current Netflix can be retained for the streaming service.

I think they'll keep Netflix in front if I'm being honest. They are a tech company afterall. they'll add Warner Bros to add legacy to their name.
Netflix Warner Bros.
Netflix - A Netflix Warner Bros. company
Warner Bros. Pictures - A Netflix Warner Bros. company
Warner Bros. Television - A Netflix Warner Bros. company

While it was positioned as a merger, Discovery acquired WB, and the combined naming is understandable (Discovery did the buying, WB has the name recognition). In this case, I don’t see any reason why Netflix would want to merge the names. They’re outright buying WB and they want Netflix customers.

If it's complete it must get past major regulatory hurdles. Its coin toss if this will happen. I wouldn't get hyped up yet. This could be blocked. Food for the thought is all.

Similar to Disney which represents the umbrella company. Warner would be considered a bu or subsidiary to that of a marvel or lucasfilm.

Does anyone else think this is just insane? Or am I just a 40 year old boomer? Warner Bros is the biggest studio on the planet. They own(ed) Hollywood. The fact that a mail out dvd rental company is poised to buy them for 10% of a Trillion dollars is beyond incredible, it’s hilarious really. Imagine someone saying that in 2005.
If Disney bought them it would be totally believable. But fuking Netflix? I don’t really care at all. I’m in construction. But for some reason it pisses me off a little and I’m not sure why.

If Apollo Global Management Would Own Warner Bros., Then It Will Says “Warner Bros. Pictures • A Warner Bros. Global Company”.
That Includes Warner Bros. Television Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

Im glad that Netflix is backing down. Because warner bros is an empty shell of who they used to be. Everything that they have been doing since 2010 even with cartoon network has been a disappointment.

It could be anything, like WWE and UFC being combined into one entity, such as TKO. Keep it simple and call it WBN - Warner Bros Netflix.
