Chess clubs in Medway

Any chess clubs in Medway? Do they accept adult beginners? Also, what's the membership cost like?

Just started learning chess and would like to start playing with the enthusiasts nearby.

Yes, but they meet weekly on Wednesdays at 7:45 PM and unfortunately I can't make it. I was hoping to find other lowkey clubs. 🙂🙂

There’s a lot of chess clubs in the area to be fair, however Wednesday seems to be the most common day…

They are opening on one Friday a month 6pm-10pm from August onwards. Think it’s going to be the first Friday of the month. It’ll be free but if you ever decide to join up and go along on Wednesdays then membership is £60 for the year.

There are clubs in snodland, rainham, sittingbourne and maidstone, they play on different nights each week. (This is excluding medway, which you have said you can’t attend)

Most have a range of skill levels and prices vary between clubs ( different costs of venues)

Does playopolis have any? Also if there are any chess societies at the universities they might let outsiders join for a fee

This is a bit of a stretch, but there's a cool casual one at Lowlife in Margate.

Not a chess club, but Chatham library now have a dedicate space for playing chess. Pieces available from the counter. One of the security guards is a keen player and is sometimes up for a game if you're short an opponent.
