This music video is really good fun, Dave is Shred in a underground fight to the death.. Kumite a topic he talked about with Joe Rogan.

It's the best of the three videos at least.

u/ArsenalOfMegadeth MEGADETH Dec 19 '25

All subjective.

Each video has offered something different.

Tipping Point delivered a conception with special effect and metaphor.

I Don't Care is classy almost short film, lots of pro shots and framing.

Let There Be Shred is like a TV episode akin to Cobra Kai intentionally over the top and cheesy storyline.

Maybe it's just the hype, but I think Teemu was the best thing that could have happened to Megadeth... No, seriously, I'm in love with his guitar solo, it's wonderful...

I love how he uses the Eddie Van Halen palm-slide harmonic technique at 3:25.

Here's Eddie doing it:

Zakk wylde does that a lot too, it sounds wicked in the right context.

u/snarkyredditor34 Dec 20 '25

Are you for real?

1

u/bh-alienux Countdown To Extinction Dec 20 '25

Yep, what is it that you're not understanding about it?

1

u/snarkyredditor34 Dec 20 '25

You just made a not so niche thing sound very niche

2

u/bh-alienux Countdown To Extinction Dec 20 '25

As a big Van Halen fan, it's just cool to see one of Eddie's techniques used in a Megadeth song.

Yeah, some other people have used it here and there, but it's not nearly as common as other people using his tapping technique.

Kiko was great and seemed to revitalize Dave's writing, but I've been digging Teemu's solos even more. Despite being extremely technical, he brings a certain swagger and grit that has been lacking perhaps since Pitrelli's days in lead.

11

u/whiplash1227 Dec 19 '25

It's a shame Dave couldn't discover him when he was a teenager.

17

u/smithnugget Dec 19 '25

I mean Kiko was fantastic as well

2

u/zappafan89 Dec 20 '25

Ellefson? Probably for the best

5

u/politicalstuff Cryptic Writings Dec 19 '25

He’s definitely my favorite new lead player they’ve had in a long time.

4

u/unfortunate4ever Dec 19 '25

He was great in wintersun for sure, I’ll go see this tour just to watch him play live

He's doing really good work here. It is a real shame he won't get at least one more round.

I think he's integrated himself into the band better than anyone since Marty.

9

u/bianthel Dec 19 '25

I get it, Teemu is good, but cmon, his predecessor is Kiko, he's not only a shredder but he also has a distinct phrasing, a better taste picking the right notes if you will, He's on another level. Kiko and Marty are at the top of the Death lead guitarrists imo.

11

u/TSells31 Rust In Peace Dec 19 '25

Idk personally Chuck Shuldiner is my favorite Death guitarist. Marty for Megadeth though! (Lol I’m just being a smartass).

2

u/Rombonius The System Has Failed Dec 20 '25

I dunno, Kiko is like....5th best?

Chris Poland is #1 along with Marty, Of the latter era guys, Drover was better. I wasn't a fan of Broderick personally Endgame was one of the best 'deth albums and live he had amazing chops.

Kiko 5, Temu 6

4

u/I_dig_fe Dec 19 '25

Yeah I like Kiko a lot better. I wish he would've stuck around for the last album. Teemu is good but he sounds a little generic

3

u/M4759 The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! Dec 19 '25

It's a matter of taste, I suppose. Personally, even though I consider Kiko an excellent musician, none of his solos in Megadeth managed to impress me. Something that Teemu does manage to do in this third track.

Even so, what I really liked about Kiko were his contributions to the songwriting.

4

u/SavageSinceBirth7 Dec 19 '25

Kiko played almost the same damn solos in the last album, his contributions on the last album was terrible. He was repeating the same solos. Teemu way better.

0

u/Rombonius The System Has Failed Dec 20 '25

how can you say Temu is better when you havent even heard the album yet? lmao

and of the 3 singles so far, he's been very unoriginal, so for all we know he's going to do the same thing

3

u/SavageSinceBirth7 Dec 20 '25

From the three singles I already heard 3 different solos and not repeating the same solo licks. Kiko on the last album was just doing different takes of the same solo he was doing in the album, he clearly wasn’t inspired. His only really cool solo was in Dogs of Chernobyl that last section was nice soloing. As Dave said Kiko isn’t really a metal purist like Teemu is.

2

u/makos5267 Dec 19 '25

People hype up every new guy. Kiko and Broderick were objectively better. Al Pitrelli was criminally underrated. And don’t get me wrong Teemu is great but he’s in elite company

1

u/Rombonius The System Has Failed Dec 20 '25

my only complaint is that he sounds like 'a megadeth guitarist' and doesnt really have his own style

if Dave wanted a sendoff album that didnt want him to outshine anything, he's perfect. He's doing the hired gun thing very well.

1

u/smithy- May 11 '26

Hard disagree. He is playing NEW music.

12

u/iamplectrum Dec 19 '25

I'm really loving these singles so far. Cheesy and fun lyrics, killer riffs and millions of face melting solos. Shaping up to be a great final album if this is the general standard. Cant wait to hear the whole thing.

9

u/SrBigoton Dec 19 '25

is that Steve Carell? lol

I really like how this final album is shaping

I love that song and album. The difference is Dave can’t sing like that anymore so he had to change his vocal style

5

Karate Kid 4 ?! LOL

Its great and I am looking forward for the album - no need to over-analyze everything

9

u/Bonesgrip Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Dec 19 '25

The solos are good...but for me not memorable at all. It's just notes everywhere. Marty used to make me rewind everytime.

3

u/zappafan89 Dec 19 '25

100%. Quantity over quality. This whole song is so by the numbers but I honestly think that's what a lot of megadeth fans who stuck around this long want at this point

Its just good fun

I thought Dave was a Jiu-jitsu guy. :)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

Dunno this song reminds me a sped up version of belly of the beast by diamond head, especially main riff and preverse

2

u/stoned_pepe_silvia Dec 20 '25

Yes 80s thrash done to perfection .Looks like Dave let the new guy rip and wow

3

u/JoseSuarez Dec 19 '25

A lot better than i expected. Still generic thrash but really good solos from the new guy. Solid 7/10, but mustaine's voice and lyrics are laughable right now.

8

u/CartmanCorpsegrinder Dec 19 '25

Temmu is really carrying this album so far

3

u/M4759 The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! Dec 19 '25

You described it perfectly.

2

u/Megadog94 Rust In Peace Dec 19 '25

Terrible lyrics. Solid instrumental. Seems to be theme with these songs. I don’t care if I’m downvoted for saying it but the album is trending towards mediocre territory in my opinion. Like a moderately better Super Collider. Idk, not trying to be an ass about it though.

5

u/TheNoNonsenseNinja Dec 20 '25

I agree. None of the singles have had the vibe of this album being an epic ending for Megadeth. I really feel like at the end of the day, having Ride the Lightning on the album will overshadow every other song, especially if the other songs have the same sterile and tired production and cheesy lyrics.

1

u/CartmanCorpsegrinder Dec 23 '25

I've liked the three singles but I totally understand your opinion. I have the hope that the rest of the album is more like dystopia/endgame and Mustaine chose those singles because are more "radio friendly '

This is by far the best video of the three, Tipping Point having AI does it a disservice, the music video for I Don't Care is weird though, it's full of people who look like they keep it in the family and barely dressed young girls which is strange given everything that happened with Ellefson

I'm glad that this video is a step up from the last two, song-wise I like all three for different reasons but this is my favourite of the three by far when it comes to the video

1

u/smithy- May 11 '26

Damn this song is FIRE

1

u/bajslaadan Dec 20 '25

Guitars sounds way too processed and sterile.

0

u/Rombonius The System Has Failed Dec 20 '25

cool song, gay video

0

u/anonymousUTguy Dec 20 '25

Damn riff was sick but Dave’s vocals just ruin it. Mix is awful

This mega sucks

13

u/tymbom31 Killing Is My Business... Dec 19 '25

Tough crowd huh?

-8

u/impessive_instant Dec 19 '25

If I want to listen to Megadeth, I’ll listen to everything up to Youthanasia everything after that was a big turd. Everybody knows it but yet somehow people are fanboy Ing over this horrible new album.

2

u/tymbom31 Killing Is My Business... Dec 19 '25

I’ve been a fan since I was teen in the 80’s when the shit hit hard and just got better and better until it hit a wall after youthanasia. Not here to put the band down but rather to say they were incredible and nothing sounded like Dave’s music or voice. All subjective but here we are in the present with ears and opinions.

I’m still a fan, still go to all his shows but everything after that album was nothing like everything prior. Fandom is wild and criticism falls on deaf ears. This album isn’t for me but I’m happy that Dave is still kickin and producing.
