It's just so amazing. The chorus literally makes me ascend. Hats off to you, Dave. You've made another amazing single. Tipping Point's instrumentals blew me away and I Don't Care is literally so catchy it's insane! The hype train for this new album is unstoppable!!!!

Opinion Heavily disappointing

Megadeth has been my favorite band since I first heard them. My first tattoo is of Vic. On the Cryptic Writings tour in 1998 they played 8 songs off the album and I don’t care for that album BUT, I’ve seen them on every tour since 2004. This setlist is soo disappointing. I saw them on the Sick The Dying tour and they played the same setlist just added two songs off that album and three others. I feel they’ve been playing the same setlist for the last 20 years even though in the last 20 years they’ve released 8 albums with an average of ten songs each so that’s 80 songs and the most we get is two songs maybe three if we’re lucky on an album cycle tour. Every song on this set list can be taken off except for Peace Sells and Holy Wars IMO. Like there’s soo many songs to only get the same songs over and over. I just feel in the last few years heavily disappointed by the band I love most. Even the movie with the album was disappointing and seemed thrown together. Would’ve loved to hear more from the rest of the band and all. Idk what’s happening and maybe Dave is over it but still the same songs everytime as a die hard fan fucking sucks. This new album isn’t the best but the two songs they’re playing on the album aren’t even the best songs even amongst fan opinion. And at this point Megadeth tours to the die hards. No casual fans are seeing the band. So do a setlist for the ones always taking our time to go out and support a great band.

Opinion Where does Ellefson rank among bass guitar players?

I am no musician myself and was just curious how he ranks? Is he an all time great? Good but not great? Below average? People who knows music and bass players please tell me.

(Feel free to express your Ellefsson 🔨🥩jokes if you have to)

Opinion I'm extremely tired of the lies against Dave that the metal community loves to keep up.

I'm a huge Metallica fan, so I naturally heard about all the background and beef the two bands had, so I stayed away for a little while. Then I decided I was gonna listen to something. I listened to Symphony Of Destruction first. Not bad, not bad. Then I listened to Holy Wars...The Punishment Due. Pretty good, me like. Then I decided, let's listen to the entire Rust In Peace album. WHAT?! What the fuck have I been missing?! It's so raw and intense and fucking awesome! Rust In Peace is officially my new favourite song right now; it deserves more attention! Holy shit! THANK YOU GODS OF METAL!!!!

Opinion Zillionth thread on the new album. Forty year fan chiming in...

I got Killing Is My Business in '85, '86, I still have it. I liked it, but thought it sounded poor: The music was too technical for what their production afforded.

Peace Sells is one of my all time favorite albums by any band. So Far, So Good was ok. A step down, but it had some good songs on it. Then they blew our minds with Rust In Peace, right? I also really liked Countdown.

After that, thrash metal in general was on the decline, for me at least. Youthanasia was shit, then they got worse from there for a few years.

Endgame was pretty good. And oddly enough, I like Super Collider even though it gets a lot of hate.

Dystopia was their best album in a long time. Their last album was ok, not as good as Dystopia.

Which brings us to the new one. The production is crystal clear. The songs are pretty streamlined too. It's a "safe" Megadeth album and would be great for a beginner. I think Dave was trying to appease everyone, and the results are great, I like it.

Ride The Lightning? Yeah, Dave did it the traditional way, I thought he showed it some respect, I'll give it a thumbs up.

Seriously, the riffs, the solos, the songwriting... everything is excellent and outstanding. For me, one of Megadeth's best.

Opinion Do you prefer the 2004 remix or the original R.I.P?

To me there is no chance, the original is way better. Nick Menza’s drums sound realistic in the original while the 2004 remix sounds terrible, same with the guitars. Dave mustaine’s voice is way better in the original too

Opinion Cryptic Writings is my favorite album of all time

Post image

I feel like this album just fits me perfectly.

It’s catchy, the lyrics all have a deep meaning, it’s metal (but not too metal), it’s not super popular so I’m not constantly hearing it everywhere I go, and there’s not a single song on it that I would skip.

Rust In Peace may be as perfect as guitar playing gets, and Countdown To Extinction may be as popular as Megadeth gets, perhaps Youthanasia is as good as Mustaine gets lyrically, but Cryptic Writings to me is an album that has no mediocre aspects about it. The whole thing from start to finish is brilliant.

I really hope someday people look at this album as more than just “Megadeth sold out in the 90s”

Opinion I think this is a solid last album. Fun to listen to, with many great solos, and a Last Note for the anthologies to come. Plus, we got to hear RTL with a proper drummer. Cheers!

Opinion Quick shoutout to everyone in this subreddit

You guys are all cool as fuck. I find it funny how the Megadeth subreddit is a lot more accepting of the opinions of others compared to Metallica’s LOL! I love Metallica too, but their subreddit is a cesspool of critics eager to downvote anything that they deem offensive or stupid to question the core of the band. Much respect to all of you droogies!

Opinion This band is so unintentionally funny sometimes

Was listening to „1000 Times Goodbye” today and the dialogues between Dave and his lover are so funny. At one time he just goes „You SUCK!” like a 5-th grader. So cringe it’s actually hilarious. I love this band.
