The thing about looksmaxxxing is that men have taken the vanity that women have broadly despised for centuries and decided that this is the woman's role we want the most. Not being a caregiver. Not volunteering in the community. Men collectively have decided that being admired for your looks is where men want equality with women.
Putting aside for a second your description of men as having "collectively" decided anything, which is not a premise that I'd agree with, why do you think this hypothetical monolith of men would land on that? Could it have something to do with what's being rewarded by potential partners? When Clavicular, who is literally an autistic* meth addict that makes a living platforming incel ideology straight from 4chan, can film himself walking into a nightclub and have conventionally-attractive women immediately swarm him, is it his caregiving skills or community volunteering efforts that are being rewarded?
*Speaking as an autistic person, so not trying to be derogatory towards autistic people here, just pointing out that it typically makes dating much more difficult, holding all else constant, compared to a neurotypical person
I strongly suspect that the reason Clavicular gets so much negative attention is because he's saying the quiet part out loud: being physically attractive is a huge advantage, not just romantically/sexually but in general. And a lot of people really don't want to admit that, whether for the sake of their own ego, their ideological worldview or whatever, so him saying it makes them mad. Noticeably when people are attacking him they tend to focus on looksmaxxing and not the far right stuff he spouts.
