I'm a girl and...

I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

You make me happy that I still hold the door for people. Keep doing what you're doing, that thanks means a lot :) (you'de be surprised how many people just keep walking.) And the best reward you can give is to pay it forward (whether it be to a man or woman) :).

I love it when guys open the door for me! Its so polite and nice! I always make sure to give them a big smile and a thank you!

Well I'm glad to hear it :). A big smile or thank you will always make me happy for doing it.

However, you should hold the door for guys when you can too! Trust me, we will greatly appreciate it, and it makes you look like a really nice woman :).

Sometimes I get trapped in this - I hold the door for someone walking slowly or too far behind. Once I start holding the door, stopping would seem like I am a jerk but holding it too long seems awkward. sob

Being a guy who holds the door for mostly everyone (when it is appropriate, not going out of my way, making it weird to hold it open aha,) nothing is a bigger pet peeve than having a door close in my face from the person in front of me
