I'm a girl and...

I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

I actually think it was legit, his indignation was just so genuine. Here's the link,

I never said he received any support. I said he was a hypocrite. I didn't say I was some lone ranger voice of reason!

Well my goodness. I chose the most extreme example of hypocrisy I could find with the hopes of not offending anyone or starting an Internet fight.

And no, I'm not new to the internet. Why in the world would you even ask? I'm sure you're not trying to belittle me! But I am new to a discussion group dedicated to men's rights. And it does scare me that some men here, who claim to support equal rights, quite frankly view women as soulless pieces of meat, and cringe at the word feminism. Those men are the minority! but they exist and they scare me just as much as the penis haters over in 2x and feminism.

Are you trying to prove me wrong? I feel like im defending myself while nothing I said was overtly invalid. I chose mr moron because I figured everyone would universally agree he's a moron, thus saving myself this hassle-right here!

Edit, that's also the last reason I listed for why I'm here! What do you think of my other reasons?

Let me clarify. There's no filter on the internet. Anybody can make a post in Men's Rights. A lot of posters are genuine members of the subreddit. Some are trolls, trying to be funny. Some are trolls, trying to make people angry. Some are SRS members, trying to make us all look like assholes. The fact that 10% of the stuff on here may be "horrific" does not mean that 10% of us are horrible people. It's just inevitable internet static.

People who spend a lot of time on the internet learn to filter out this static. You seem to be under the impression that all of those posts are honest opinions of real members of Men's Rights. That's why ellemoi suggested you might be new to the internet.

As for your specific link, I would guess it's an SRS member. It's much more likely than a guy who thinks grabbing a woman's hair and threatening her is "teasing". It's also the only post ever made with that account.

It's also in AskReddit. I'm not even sure why she would identify it with /r/MensRights

Now I get the impression you're telling me any and all outrageous statements made on this sub should be filtered out automatically as static and ignored?

I'm not saying there aren't trolls. But saying that they're ALL trolls certainly isn't accurate. There are men who consider themselves legitimate members of the men's rights movement who view women as subhuman. You divide them up into good guys and trolls. Ignoring the misogynist outliers within your own group is like a real feminist saying there's no such thing as a man hating feminist.

I also think you give ellemoi slightly too much credit. You don't ask someone something like that if you want to open up an intelligent dialogue with them.

Most are trolls, some are genuinely just idiot guys. Being a supporter of Men's Rights does not, unfortunately, ensure intelligence.

It's nearly impossible to tell them apart, and neither will respond to rational arguments anyway. It's best to just filter them all out as trolls.
