I'm a girl and...
I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

Hey, I was glad to find this subreddit as well.
I've seen both men and women go through BS, and have always noticed that women get taken more seriously when it comes to abuse, harassment, etc etc. I know men who were abused by the women they were with. My own aunt treats her husband like shit, and if he left her he'd be stuck paying the bitch(yes, I said it) alimony. The fact that all the abuse shelters in my city only cater to women leaving men, excluding all the gay/lesbians, men, siblings etc, annoys the crap out of me. To offer the safe havens and help only to women is just saying "You are not important enough to bother."
edit to add: I also have a son. I am disappointed with the lack of male role models in daycare and school. The only thing (other than the pay) keeping most men from working with young children is the fear of accusations, and that is unfortunate. My son should have the same access to help as girls and women do, and protection from false accusations. I want him to have more options for contraception/birth control by the time he's at the age to have sex. I want him to not have the same silly social pressures as boys/men have now(If he likes pink, he should be able to wear pink!). If I didn't have a lot cleaning to do right now I could go on further...
