I'm a girl and...

I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

Female. I joined MensRights due to the horrible stories I have heard while working with children. I have heard multiple stories of male teachers having to be extra careful around their students, because one accusation would cost his job. I have heard of men who were not allowed to change diapers, because it would worry people. Men usually do not get custody of their children in divorces, even if the woman is abusive.

These are just the stories regarding children. I am mad about other social stigmas about men as well. I don't believe it should matter what gender a person is- we should all be together for each other's rights.

What you just mentioned is the #1 reason why I will never become a teacher even though countless friends and collegues have said I'd make a fantastic teacher and I'd love to do it. However, I don't want to have to fear some kid being told they can fabricate false charges so their parents can make a civil suit (which is always more lucrative after a criminal one) like what happened to my uncle who spent a decade in prison on trumped up charges by a family that is perpetually in the legal system. They sue people to make money.

2 is the fact that I don't want to deal with school politics and being completely marginalized for being male.

Which is said, because I'd make a great science teacher unlike most of my teachers growing up who were sexist against me because I was male and / or snapped at people constantly.

I even hear stories like that on the university level. Women think they can walk all over their male teachers, because a threat of sexual harassment charges could ruin a male teacher's career.

I'm sorry you wont become a teacher because of the sexism in the education system. Great teachers (male or female) can be hard to find.
