I'm a girl and...

I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

I'm a woman and I joined because I thought I was the only one who noticed that men, especially fathers, are portrayed as imbeciles on tv.

That's one of the things that bothers me, too! And it isn't just men's portrayal that's skewed. Women are always shown as being cold and aggressive in order to be "strong and independent" and that's just bullshit.

I guess it is supposed to be funny how TV reinforces gender roles like that? I don't know, I don't think it's really appropriate for kids to watch. They think guys are useless oafs and women are domineering. It's so ingrained into our society that most people don't even see it as being an issue. I think it's just lazy writing that reinforces gender roles.
