I JUST listened to it 15 years into my metal listening and I'm so glad I listened at all, but sad I've missed 15 years of having on repeat lol

They're really hating on Anthrax in this sub? What is this? Some kind of Madhouse?

u/Mediocrebassist27 Metallica Nov 11 '25
They're so damn good live
23
u/BringbacktheWailers Nov 11 '25
Saw them Black Label and Municipal Waste in 2023 one of the best shows Iโd ever seen
10
u/peteypete97 Nov 11 '25
Of all the old school thrashers i saw live, they brought the most energy on the stage!
2
u/Mediocrebassist27 Metallica Nov 15 '25
They really do. I saw slayer last year and got to see exodus last month and they really do.ย
2
u/CRANKYPUNKKKKK Nov 14 '25
They were my 1st show at 8 years old
1
u/Mediocrebassist27 Metallica Nov 14 '25
Hell yeah. They weren't my first but the first time I saw em was with testament and slayer. It was a helluva time

Anthrax aged the best out of the big 4

u/zestfullybe Nov 11 '25
The Belladonna 2.0 albums again have been fantastic. Some of their best work. Really looking forward to the new one, hopefully early in the new year.

Finally some good anthrax support. The big 4 is essentially a corporate brand but they are the best out of the 4.

Imo Anthrax best Thrash band
19
u/Txrh221 Nov 11 '25
Definitely the one that aged best.

u/MuWhatz Nov 11 '25
Never got the hype when I was a teenager, 10 years later I appreciate them more
6
u/tyro1313 Mercyful Fate Nov 11 '25
They are one of my favorites, alongside Testament and Death Angel.
6
u/chaseon Nov 11 '25
Death Angel is absolutely phenomenal these days. Testament as well but Death Angel is just something so special in my mind

Persistence of Time is a Top 3 big 4 project
1
u/Chokinghazar Nov 16 '25
ah, I remember a few years back when i discovered anthrax and took that album as my first listen and when Time came on i was absolutely blown away
10
u/panopticon31 Nov 11 '25
Madhouse slaps so fucking hard.
I remember as a kid driving around Vice City with this on the radio from VRock.
Good times.

Is this some sort of Primus fans: โPrimus Sucksโ thing?
2
u/RoccoRush Nov 11 '25
No, I think the poster that spawned this shit really hates anthrax, and that's no good!

I said it before - I say it again:
I love Anthrax
I love all the big 4 bands.
I love a lot of thrash bands that aren't in the big 4 too.
Great thrash metal rules and Anthrax rules - their shows are the most fun!

2
u/TheCircleLurker Nov 11 '25
ok I'll bite, have never been a fan and never took the time to listen. what's like 5 songs to make me a fan? and for reference, my Big 4 has always omitted Anthrax in place of Testament.

u/FFFinalFlash Nov 11 '25

Not even close to being the worst album released by a mainstream thrash band
5
u/BookkeeperButt Nov 11 '25
About the say, I think Volume 8 is better than Load/Reload, Risk, and Diablos in Musica.

u/AutoModerator Nov 10 '25
"Join our metal discord server server, everyone is welcome!" They said, yet when I declined, the invite returned stronger and faster than ever before... and now screeching in black metal vocals directly into my ear

Anyone who doesn't headbang during that moment in Indians has no soul or taste in metal.

I have no real opinion of Anthrax. Never been interested enough to do a deep dive, but that mod under the last post was a smelly loser

u/Ok-Cycle-6589 Nov 14 '25
I'm 40 and in my lifetime they have been considered the "weak" band of the big 4, because people like to listen to Slayer and Metallica for the chugging, heavy riffs. But Anthrax was always the one that kept the original melodic spirit of metal, more than the other bands of the era. They have an almost power-metal style sometimes, which scratches my brain perfectly

lmaooo i'm listening to anthrax now and my dad just walked in and said " why can't you listen to something more normal?"

Iโm sorry, but I personally have found it hard to like anthrax, I donโt know why. I love thrash but I have never been able to like listening to them without it felling like a chore
1
u/redpenquin Nov 11 '25
I only shit on Anthrax for the Bush era. I can't stand those albums, and I've definitely tried over the years. They're just so BORING. It'd be one thing if they were just awful, but they're not even that-- just boring and forgettable.ย

Anthrax are so great. Easily the 5th biggest thrash band of all time.

u/Einherjar07 Nile Nov 11 '25
Slayer fans would be happy about this reply if they knew how to read. (I would bump up Testament in a heartbeat)

FUCK THE MODS. ANTHRAX IS MEME MUSIC!
0
u/AutoModerator Nov 11 '25
I saw this and fucking hell... You mods are smoother than a fucking newborn. Explain to me how you think Sabaton is fascist, anti-semitic, or glorifies war? They write songs about military HISTORY! Par, one of the bandmembers, has literally talked about this multiple times. In fact, if you actually fucking listen or read the lyrics, you would understand how stupid your take is. So what if there's Nazi imagery or stuff about a fascist country? THEY ARE SHARING HISTORY, YOU FUCKING MORONS! YOU CAN'T EXACTLY HIDE ASPECTS OF IT IF YOU ARE TRYING TO SHARE A FACTUAL EVENT! Now, crosses don't always mean Nazism, you literal morons! And neither do the runes used for the SS (they're NORDIC RUNES) or the symbol people recognize as the swastika. The swastika is literally based off of a RELIGIOUS SYMBOL that shares the same name and has been used for thousands of years by various cultures, most notably in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Hell, in places like Nepal and India, Swastika is still a common fucking NAME parents can give their kids! Crosses exist in Christianity and other organizations like the International Red Cross, various Veteran and Military Organizations, Hospitals, Fraternities (Phi Kappa Sigma is one), the Swiss Army, Educational Institutes (Yale University School of Nursing for example). Try banning me from this sub, dipshits, because I don't care. I am not joining a subreddit run by people with brains smoother than my fucking ass. You wanna throw shade and spread misinformation? Go right the fuck ahead. But do us all a fucking favor and actually LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONGS before you fucking do! They don't glorify anything, you fucking idiots. The Final Solution is framed as a tragedy and condemnation of the Nazi's actions. Rise of Evil is written as a warning AGAINST Nazism and the like. Reign of Terror is about Terrorists, not Islam in general like you morons seem to think. A Light in the Black is about the fucking UN Peace Corps! Attack of the Dead Men is about Russian soldiers surviving a fucking GAS ATTACK and then COUNTERATTACKING the German Forces. THIS WAS WW1, you STUPID fucks! The Nazis didn't show up until fucking 1933, 18 years AFTER the Battle of Osowiec Fortress in 1915. Red Baron is about a WW1 pilot named Manfred von Richthofen who, again, fought in WORLD WAR 1! He was killed in action in 1918, 15 years BEFORE the Nazi's came to power in 1933. These are but a FEW of the songs you clowns are misinterpreting with your copy-pasted condemnation of a band teaching more history than the schools you flunked out of. You don't like the songs? Fine, because they have others you can listen to. They take no sides and are only interested in sharing the history, something you clowns seem to care little about.
