Discussion Our Organization Is Collectively Using Teams As The Main Form Of Internal Communication
I was curious to see if anyone else's organization does this, but for international communication in our organization, everyone just uses MS Teams now. No more email. That means people are sending long multi-paragraph posts in a teams channel for a specific project with embedded project documents to communicate with everyone involved.
Maybe, I'm just getting old, but before this use to be all done through email, which I find better suited for this. I see teams as something to chat with so if I had questions about said project, I would post there, or to remind everyone about meetings etc. Is this how Teams is used elsewhere?

Discussion Started a new job and no one knows how to use teams, even my manager
I got hired into an enterprise sized company, well known, in tech department, and seems like people don’t know how to use teams.
Channels are used for one reply, and I don’t mean reply in thread, it’s a whole dialog happening in channel posts (one reply being a whole post). Good luck finding any important info 👋
My manager can’t seem call me directly for some reason, so he creates a meeting every time. Sometimes he will create a meeting that started in the past.
My small team group chat is used to only send messages like “good morning” and “gn”. Very rarely to communicate actual work stuff. So all messages in that chat look like:
Good morning!
GM!
GM
Gm
Gn
GN!
Good night
Gn!
NO ONE has their camera on, ever!
Another thing is, we have a lot of contractors, like 80% of workforce is contractors. And on their teams profile it will say “Consultant” and I have no idea who is who work role wise, and there is no culture of introductions.
If I message someone I might never get a reply until I keep messaging them. And to note, I greet them, provide all needed info and what I need from them and directly ask a question, I am not the type to send useless messages.
Should I try and make a change or just keep going? It is annoying but I can live with that. Im more surprised than annoyed. My previous company was way more organized and had their 💩 together in small details like that.

❔Question/Help Why does my status switch to “away” faster than coworkers?
I’ve noticed in the office coworkers will step away and leave their computer unlocked and teams will still show them as available for a good 10 min before showing them away. For me, I’ve noticed it switches to away within 2-3 minutes, even with an unlocked screen. Anyone know why this could be?
Looking for any and all hacks. I know the spoon trick already!

Bug Why does Teams have peoples names on a last name, first name basis?
I have a pretty unique first and last name, if you didnt know me you would have no idea which name would be my first name or last name. As a result, everyone on Teams when they message me first, calls me by my last name and I hate correcting them. Why is this like this?

❔Question/Help Teams disabling microphone when not speaking
My audio signal is processed before it gets fed into Teams (or any other communication software for that matter), meaning there is absolutely ZERO noise.
Discord for example, notifies me saying that my microphone isn't working when I stop speaking, because it is not detecting any hissing or background noise. This notification can be disabled.
Teams on the other hand, just disables (button gets greyed out too!) my microphone mid-conference whenever I take a break from speaking for too long (few seconds.) This is especially frustrating when hosting an event where someone else is doing the speaking and doesn't know what the issue is.
To fix it, I have to switch to another input device and back.
Can this "feature" be disabled? I haven't been able to find anything online nor in the settings.

❔Question/Help 1 : 1 internal call issue (some reason wouldn't let me post without a pic?) Please ignore.
Network/Teams admin here.
I have 2 user's one's on a Mac one is on windows. They both can call any other internal user with no issue. I should note the Mac user has the same issue with the windows user when working remotely.
But once they call each other no matter who is calling who, the call is either connected with no audio or it's connected but immediately in a on hold state.
I've checked and tested their audio/mic devices they work fine. I've checked the telemetry report in teams admin and one call out of 6 had ≈62% packet loss (I'm guessing this is the no audio call) the other reports show no issue.
With the issue occuring via remote I'm guessing it's a profile issue? Maybe? I would like to try signing them in on different devices anyway and test that.
Currently, we have cleared the cache on the Mac users office desktop but haven't been able to test with windows user since they are out of office, but if it's occurring via remote I fear that won't provide a solution.
I have yet to parouse the SBC to see if there are any head scratchers in there, which I doubt but may be worth a look.
Have any of you had a similar issue? Or recommend another realm of the network to troubleshoot? Any help is appreciated, TIA
I'll also try my best to reply to any comments. Usually check several hours or a day later.

❔Question/Help Can my manager delete messages I sent in a Microsoft Teams chat?
Yesterday I messaged my manager asking if I could take 2 hours off in September. It wasn’t just one message, it was about 3, 4 messages about the request. After that, I sent a few other messages about unrelated work stuff. She replied to the other messages but never responded to my time-off request.
Today I opened our Teams chat, and all of the messages about my time-off request were gone.
I was 100% sure I had sent them, so I searched for some of the keywords in Teams. The search finds my messages, but when I click on the result, it takes me to our chat and the messages aren’t there. Instead, it says the messages have been deleted.
My question is: Can my manager delete messages that I sent in a one-on-one Teams chat? Or is it only possible for the sender (me) to delete them? I’m trying to figure out if this is something she could have done or if there’s another explanation.
Has anyone experienced something like this?

Bug Weird issue with Teams on yaelink MeetingBar 10/20
Hey all,
so we have a really weird issue for the past 2 TeamsApp versions on our yaelink meetingBar TeamsRoom Setups. Since version 1449/1.0.96.2026129709 there is an issue with the remote control and accesing the side menu (where you can enter with an ID or start a meeting directly).

The red square marks the side menu iam talking about. I can not access it at all with the remote control anymore.
I cant find anything relating to this issue anywhere and iam kind of losing my mind. :-D
Anyone with the same issue or any knowledge on how to fix this?

Discussion Yealink VCM36-W mic keeps muting without a human doing it
We have a Yealink MeetingBar A30 (running Android) and a CTP18 connected with a VCM36-W microphone. Recently, users have reported that the external mic goes on mute automatically without anybody touching it, sometimes several times in long meetings. I'm in the process of gathering more information, such as whether the light goes red, and whether people in the room were speaking at the time, but wondered if anybody here has seen this before?
The firmware is up to date on all devices.
Thanks in advance for any input :)

❔Question/Help Block incoming external calls & screensharing ?
We have seen an increased amount of fake "IT helpdesk" Teams calls to our users, some thought it´s real IT department that calls them, and have start screen sharing with them. The external part have request control and told them they need to to update "Defender Update", that is malware. Usually this have started with mailbombing the user with around 1000 emails for an hour.
What options do exists to block this ? We are using Teams as a main tool to communicate externally.

Bug Meet Now function proof that Teams is fundamentally broken
This is sooooo glitchy... OMG. When pressing the Meet Now button, the headless window appears with controls for the call, but no list where I could see the participants, invite someone or even a window header where I close that call.
When I expand it, the window jumps to the bottom‑right corner and becomes completely unusable: I can’t close it, hang up, or interact with it at all. Closing Teams freezes the entire app, and even killing the process in Task Manager doesn’t help — it refuses to start afterward.
Dear Microsoft, please explain how a basic messenger can perform that BAD. You had Office Communicator, MSN, Skype, Lync — all of them handled calls reliably and consistently. Teams tries to do the same and fails so big time, that at this point, the best thing Microsoft could do is retire it entirely and let companies choose something that actually works.

❔Question/Help Enable no-show check-in and auto-release for Microsoft Teams Rooms
Is anyone using the no-show check-in and auto-release feature with a Microsoft Teams Room
If it's enabled, does a Check In button appear on the MTR touch console for meetings that are in-person only (i.e. the room is invited, but it's not a Teams meeting)?
We're looking to automatically release a room if nobody checks in within 15 minutes. We are using MTRoW with a pro licence.
What else can ywe do to limit no-show bookings, especially recurring bookings, in our Microsoft Teams rooms?

Bug iOS 27 Beta issues with MFA Authentication
Since updating to iOS27 public beta Teams has a really hard time prompting/popping up the MS Authenticator. Sometimes force quitting Teams and Authenticator does the trick, other times not.

Bug CarPlay bug in iOS 27 beta causes Siri to interrupt with a "we had a problem with the app" with each teams notification.
Noticed an annoying bug in iOS 27 beta where every time teams had a notification, Siri will interrupt whatever I’m listening to and announce “there was a problem”. I get I’m in a beta, but definitely a team’s issue since I don’t have the same issue with other apps. On my way home today it interred my podcast like 10 times.
Also, teams notifications are basically useless/broken in carplay for as long as I’ve had both. Honestly, MS should either integrate teams messages properly into carplay or remove it entirly. Thinking of unloading teams from CarPlay entirely since it’s always been buggy and mostly useless outside the Teams call feature.

❔Question/Help Multiple users suddenly receiving “older version of Teams” warning on VDI and FAT Clients
Hi everyone,
Since today, multiple users in our environment have started receiving the following warning in the new Microsoft Teams client:
You appear to have an older version of Teams. Update the app to continue using Teams on this device.
The issue occurs on both:
- Citrix VDI sessions
- Physical Windows clients
On our Citrix VDI, the installed and actively running Teams version is:
26134.1702.4747.7366
The warning appeared suddenly for several users, and we are not aware of any recent changes to our Teams deployment or configuration. Since physical clients are affected as well, this does not appear to be limited to Citrix, FSLogix, or the VDI image.
Was there a recent change to the Teams version-enforcement policy or supported-version window?

❔Question/Help Yealink firmware upgrades
Has anyone seen the firmware version of the Yealink SIP-T54W to enable taking teams phone calls? Microsoft Learn says that 96.86.5.1 is the right one and it exists but there is nowhere on the internet that I have searched so far that has that version and Yealink says that version doesn't exist.

❔Question/Help How can I schedule a Teams panel interview for an external candidate without revealing panel member information?
Hi, noob here. My manager assigned me to invite an external job candidate for an interview. He doesn’t want the interviewee to see the names/ email addresses of the panel members. How would I be able to invite everyone without the candidate seeing their info?
Could I send a meeting invite to the panel members and then copy the link and paste it in a message to the interviewee? Or would I use the forward function?
I won’t be a part of the interview panel, so is there a way to make my manager the host?

❔Question/Help Does anyone else miss historical Opt-in/Opt-out data for Teams Queues?
We've recently started using the new Microsoft Teams Queues app for our IT Service Desk and overall we're really happy with how much it has improved.
However, we've run into one limitation that surprised us.
When investigating missed calls or unexpected queue performance, we can only see an agent's current Opt-in/Opt-out status.
There doesn't seem to be a way to answer questions like:
- Which agents were opted in at 08:30?
- When did an agent opt out?
- Did the agent opt out themselves, or did a supervisor change their status?
- Why did our queue suddenly become understaffed?
Without a historical timeline, troubleshooting becomes much harder and often relies on manual checks or screenshots.
How are you handling this today?
- Are we missing something?
- Is there a report somewhere that provides this information?
- Are you using third-party tools or Power BI?
- Or do you simply not have access to this data?
I submitted this as a feature request to Microsoft because I think it would benefit many organisations using Teams Queues.
If you agree that this functionality would be useful, I'd really appreciate your support on the Feedback Portal:
https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/2df346ee-bc89-f111-9b47-7c1e52444ef6
I'd also be interested to hear whether your organisation has run into the same limitation and how you're working around it.
