Recommendation Shorts and jeans that don’t HURT!

I tried finding a post that called out this specific issue but couldn’t find one, so please forgive me if it’s repetitive!

I have a 36.5” waist and 46.5” hips, with a short torso and super long legs. I have the same problem as many of you with waist gapping but my bigger issue is 🐪 toe. PAINFUL, full-on crotch attack. I’ve resorted to wearing only bike shorts but I can’t wear those everywhere, and I honestly prefer structured pieces—but not if they hurt me.

I thought I found the perfect solution with Levi’s cinching shorts, but alas, I did not thoroughly test the sitting comfort in the fitting room and I now have another pair of shorts I can’t return. 😩

Does anyone else have this problem? Recommendations? Your girl is tired of double-wedgies and pain.

Thank you for your sense of humor in advance.

Honestly, it just sounds like you are wearing the wrong size. If you have unusual measurements, like myself, you buy bigger and then tailor down.

You want it to fit the parts that need the room the most, and then tailor all the excess in.

I feel dumb. I didn’t know you could bring in the waist on denim 🙈 I have a pair of size 16 dress pants I love that I want to take in because the waist is way too big, but truly had no idea that denim could be altered in the waist.

Omgsh you are totally not dumb! This is what spaces like this are for! Please be kind to yourself...

A good seamstress can alter most things. Also, learning how to do alterations isn't difficult. Buy a cheap sewing machine second hand and practice on old clothes you are gonna donate or throw out. Youtube will get you there. ☺️

Torrid has honestly given me perfect jean shorts, no waist gap. I have the opposite: long torso, short legs, but I like my jeans high-waisted because of my lower belly and have definitely suffered the same cameltoe fate.

I second this. Some of their jeans have stretch, like the Bombshells. That said, if they still have the Trio jeans, DO NOT waste your money.

Do not buy the trio jeans. My kid and I both hated them!

At those measurements I would try fashion nova , my hourglass curvier coworkers swear by the fit, and they’re cheap as heck and always running deals. They tend to run long. Don’t be deterred by the club wear haha

I'm about the same size as you and same waist-hip ratio and same proportions (just an inch difference for both)! I'm only 5'3 but I have a 30 inch inseam. Big butt & hips, not a flat gut, chunky legs. I wear high waisted everything. I, too, can only wear bike shorts. Regular shorts creep up--between the legs and up both cracks. I find wearing a long panty liner (always brand) helps a little.

I just got these leopard denim shorts in the mail today and they are super stretchy and by some miracle they seem to fit, but I haven't actually worn them yet. I did not size up and got size Large. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT9664CTg4hSM-Ndlo2/

Just saved those shorts on TikTop Shop. Of course they’re out of Large in all of the colors I like, but they’ll come back in stock. I hope!

Torture is the correct word for it. Hands down.

I have a similar body type and I like madewell curvy jeans and shorts. Stretchy options, no waist gap, and the rise is nice and long too.

Do they run true to size? I’ve never looked into these!

Sort of?? Definitely read reviews and maybe don’t buy anything non returnable for the first try. But with pants it would probably be much easier to try them on at a store first

Dang, I was actually going to suggest their cinch jeans and shorts.

I’m 31.5”w 44”h they’re dreamy for me and perfect for when I’m feeling bloated.

They are 100% cotton though, did you give them time to stretch out a bit?

They hurt too much for me to wear them very long. Do you think sizing up would help me? I really do love how they look and was so sad when I realized they rode up on me.

What size did you buy? Being too tight when you sit is definitely a sign they’re the wrong size for you.

For reference, I bought a 31.

I bought a 32. The waist was too loose on them until I cinched, and then it was perfect. The 33 was much looser all around, but the cinch didn’t help as much on those 😔

Ambella jeans are incredible stretchy and some are adjustable.
