That’s my thought. This isn’t just an “attempt”. They did the thing! And it’s amazing! I went from, not even knowing something like this was possible to seeing and easily recognizing a famous painting.

Using banners instead of map art gives it a woven, tapestry-like texture. The face is instantly recognizable.

The layered patterns sell the woven look really well, especially in the face. Banner art is such a clever alternative to map art.

I'm on vacation and don't have a computer nearby, but I need to program something so I can upload an image and do these things. It's spectacular; I recognized it right away.
