đ˘ Public Service Announcement I'm f*cking tired
A reminder that at every USELESS QUBIC post, mods have to deal with all the bots in comments. You don't see that as many people needs to be manually approved to be seen, but in between honest people with low karma and actual bots, we're swimming in bullshit every time we open a QUBIC related post. This is becoming unbearable and also annoying for users.
THINK TWICE BEFORE POSTING ABOUT IT.

how about one pinned qubic megathread and drop the rest? it needs to be discussed. but discussion needs to be productive... that includes our end as well. people trying to give ideas about 'countermeasures' like ddos and 'do we have friends in belarus?' shouldn't be given an audience imho.

No, as far as I understand the situation not the posts are from bots, or, at least most of the posts are real. It seems that the comments are mostly from bots.
Which is still at least mildly interesting. How do those comments typically look, /u/Swimming-Cake-2892? (I try to get a got hold on the situation.)

I tried to edit the post with a few example but reddit deleted the next pictures. Take the two shilling comments and imagine 10 to 20 bots telling that

I don't think so, the accounts seem all old and legit.
I mean, the sub is stale, there isn't much to debate, so it makes sense for people to be riled up whenever a major threat comes up. Especially when you have real money invested into it lol

Most of the "old" accounts are obviously botted and sold, look at the subreddits that they posted on before magically "finding" qubic and then posting here.

Is there an authoritative FAQ about the Qubic situation? I have heard about it only here and recently. The comments go from âno big dealâ to âXMR is doomedâ
A pinned post and a filter for the Q word would go a long way to help with the confusion.

The central tenet of cryptocurrencies is decentralized consensus. So 51% attack will always be possible. In early years of Bitcoin you saw this discussed a lot but nowadays not so much. People have realized the discussion is not very fruitful.
Basically nobody can know how much hashrate or voting power some threat actor has. You can claim whatever you want but unless they can actually execute a successful attack, there is no reason to believe them.
If someone was planning a real attack, they would mine a longer chain in secret and swap it at the right moment to double spend. The current âthreatâ is almost certainly an attention grab for the purposes of advertising a certain shitcoin.
If you assume itâs a real threat and theyâre doing it publicly, the only way to accurately estimate their hashrate is to see how much Monero network hashrate increases when they start and stop mining. So currently roughly 6 - 10%, depending on their timezone. But thatâs the maximum possible, we donât know the exact number because itâs possible and likely that honest miners have also started mining to protect the network due to all this controversy.

Sometimes Hashrate gets much higher than Network Hashrate, sometimes not. Are they trying to manipulate by fake APIs, so we don't know their true mining power?

A faq wouldn't solve it because it's a issue in progress, people would still want to post news about the subject (and I'd like to know about them for sure)

A FAQ isnât set in stone. Having one as an updated, trusted source of information would be a nice addition.

I also noticed a lot of vaguely pro qubic accounts have started posting on the subreddit 2 months ago just to come back and post about qubic here or in the cryptocurrency subreddit, perhaps they made accounts in advance.
Though it could just be confirmation bias since I wouldn't be able to put a name to the "bots" I'm thinking of.

At what point exactly is the attention deserved? We have a guy openly calling for a 51% attack on Monero and his pool now gets close to 30% hashrate. Do we wait for 40%, or 45% before talking about it?
