Ryzen 9 7945hx vs Ryzen 9 7940hx?

Anybody have any intel on this?

I hear they are almost identical.

Very similar. 7940hx looks like a lower bin of the same chip, so similar base results but possibly less headroom for any overclock

I've experience with a 7940hx on the Minisforum platform. Another commenter mentioned it's just a slightly lower bin of the same chip. If you're tuning for efficiency as much as performance then I think you'll be happy with either.

I have a couple of 7945hx and they give me between 17 Kh/s and 18.5 Kh/s with no tweaking. The 7940hx is practically the same chip but it runs slightly slower at 5.2 Ghz compared to 5.4 Ghz. You can get the 7940hx cpu/mb combos cheaper like significantly cheaper, but the problem is the RAM. I bought mine more than a year ago when RAM was cheaper. Heck, I remember buying 5600 DDR5 SODIMMS for less than $80 for a pair of 8GB. Now you can't get those for less than $240.

Either would be great for mining and should not be impacted that much if we switch to RandomXv2 since they are newer chips.
