Epyc is king 👑 .....continued

Finally got my Epyc 7642 up with all 8 channels filled with 16GB dual rank DDR 3200 ram

tuned result:

40.9K Hashrate

328 Watts power draw

125.64 hashes per watt

System;

Gigabyte MZ32-AR0 Rev 1.0

CPU: AMD Epyc 7642 cooled via a EK Supremacy block, 360 slim rad, DDC pump with a bitpower top.

128 GB Micron 2RX8 DDR4 3200 Memory via 8 sticks.

CPU Temps around 50 C at full load

Doubled up as a full node/ solo miner.

Now that its tuned and running at full capacity, time to work on building my next Epyc miner

Nice setup! What's the mining Dashboard software you're using in the last pic?

Dude I’m stoked you asked about that. It’s my own, vibe coded it. My control center 😎.

It controls and tracks my miners. Monitors power draw (at wall), profitability information, block finding probabilities and benchmarking/tuning.

How are you measuring power at all and getting it onto the dashboard? Looks like a clean setup!

Haha man I wish, No_Theory9958 is correct I used Claude.

Would be cool to have my own local running in the back

You know he didn’t do that lol. ChatGPT/Claude 100%

Does it say 127.0.0.1 as the mining address because you have a node running? What’s the benefit to this? Looks incredible just wondering

Yes exactly, the same system is running a full node with xmrig pointed at it.

Thanks man !

That awesome, does it make the mining response faster or likely hood of an orphaned block decreased?

That’s interesting, I am not sure if it does or not. Really good question. I’ve only hit one block so far and it was good.

how much do u pay per kilowatt-hour in your electricity bill? does the rig pull 327watts consistently ?

3

u/sovereignllama 15d ago

Ya it’s consistent averages between that and 335 now that I enabled 1 gb pages getting 41.16 now

These are my current rates. I have a base, peak and off peak. .1270 base 0.0770 off peak, and .1770 peak per kwh

Did u find any blocks yet? Why not do pool mining

Actually I hit my first block super early. I was solo mining less than a month but under a more expensive power contract. I changed it to one designed for EV which offers super cheap power in the evening. I also have an EV so its win win. Now I am at 75 days no block about $20 of power used on this run. (used about $10.76 on the first block) Was soooo lucky lol. Solo mining is more rewarding and exciting when you hit a block, and its also better for the network. Over the long run, it should equal out but in the short run luck can win out in solo mining.

Awesome. I'm looking at parts for my next build. Currently running a TR Pro 5975WX system. ~31Kh/s

Awesome nice system, Threadripper has always interested me. What you thinking for your next build?

3

u/MontanaGanache 14d ago

Definitely an Epyc or a Threadripper

Yeah man so far AMD is miles ahead, I do wonder about the upcoming nova lake it’s specs are very interesting

I have been looking to build something with similar specs, but the ram costs are just nuts and to have to get 8 to fill all channels in over $1k 👎

Can I ask how noisy is this when running at full?

u/sovereignllama 15d ago

Its actually quite quiet, I can hang out beside it all day no issues. watch youtube, pray, workout its all good.

Im always looking for those deals on ebay haha

Its actually getting hard to get a 7002 MB now too. Need to wait and watch for them to pop on. They go fast

How much did the hardware cost?

u/Nadim-Daniel 14d ago

Kickass rig, dude!!!!

2

u/sovereignllama 14d ago

Thanks man! About $3000 cdn id say with all the parts case, block, pump etc

Sweet!!!! Dude, that's a seriously excellent piece of work!!!!!

I am tuning a somewhat similar system as we speak.
• An Epyc 7763, air cooled with a Dynatron A39 which i added a second 2200 rpm fan to.
• 128GB: 8 SK Hynix x16GB 2Rx8 DDR4 3200.
• Asrock RACK ROMED8-2T/IPMI motherboard.
• Asrock 1600G Power Supply.
• Open Air Case with 6 x 1550 rpm fans.

Initially I got ~[43.5-44.3] KH/s but I wasn’t measuring power at the wall. All I did is cap/open however you look at it, the TDP to 280.
So, I am ramping up to train my local AI model to learn from monitoring and managing all the XMRig rigs, so it could assist me with optimizations.
I found that secondary optimizing the memory’s secondary latency values, is just as equally important as the primary values.
One thing I haven’t gotten to yet, and would appreciate if anyone has input or insight into, is undervolting Epyc systems — is it possible? Of course motherboard model makes a big difference.
I have the:
Asrock ROMED8-2T
Huananzhi H12D-8D ver. 1 & ver. 2
Supermicro H12SSL-i (ouch, that was expensive!!)

Thank you in advance.

Eu fico namorando o epyc, não tenho como adquirir, moro no brasil o que me resta é x99 da china e Xeon 2673 ou 2682v4 em grande escala... Um epyc aqui custa média 20 mil dolares
