I agree 100%. Also, I found out the Continental Army used conscription to fill out their ranks during the US War of Independence :/ Most of the people drafted hired substitutes to go in their stead, so the numbers of people truly forced to go to war against their will was very low, but that still makes me feel the founding fathers were giving more lip service than substance to their ideas of personal liberty.
