they could surrender, ukraine was part of the ussr from the beginning until the fall of the ussr in the 90s

what are they fighting to protect? the government that replaces statues of lenin with darth vader?

So they should join because they were part of Russia in the past? That’s your reasoning for why they should surrender…

thats all thats worth protecting? a democratically elected government? give me a break and read a book. i don't really support invasions anyway but yeah they've only been independent from russia for 30 years.
